About Sloane

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am very quick on the court and always react quickly to the play. I also don’t get in my head and continue to play my hardest. I play smart and hard and make the best I can of each play.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I never get down on myself or let a mistake I make affect myself or my teammates. I try to help my teammates do the same and remind them that it’s okay if they make mistakes. I get extremely excited when anyone on my team does something well such as a perfect pass, set, or kill.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

For the first semester of high school I was in the top 25% highest GPA in my grade, which I recieved a Head of School’s list award for. I recieved a living the mission nomination, an award that someone selects you for when they see you doing something admirable. I am part of the neuroscience club at my school as well.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I can adjust very easily to the needs or wants of my team or a group I may be working with in school while still maintaining my own ideas and conributions to the activity. I’ve volunteered at several places such as Midnight Mission, the Alexandria House, and the St. Sebastian Sports Project. It has taught me compassion, hard work, and organizational skills.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was diagnosed with ADHD in elementary school which makes it harder to pay attention and perform well in school.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college with good academics that I can thrive in while thriving in volleyball as well. I want to be able to have enough time to not burn out as well so that I can have fun while playing the sport I love and learning more about medicine.
