One key moment came late in a tight match when she recognized an uncovered line shot and executed a power tip to score, helping swing momentum and eventually win the match. Looking forward, she is concentrating on improving her out-of-system attacking by slowing down her approach, refining footwork, and improving timing, based directly on coaching feedback. Off the court, Husband recently turned 15 and shared her excitement about growing in maturity and responsibility, along with her love for reading, history, and musical theater.

I was extremely impressed with Sofia’s presence on the right side. She is an explosive lefty with great touch on the ball, and she showed the ability to score in a variety of ways. I watched her hit from several different setters, and her ability to adjust to each setter’s tempo and style was outstanding. Every team needs a right-side hitter who can be a primary offensive option, and Sofia fits that role with ease. When she gets the ball, you can trust she’s going to make something positive happen.

I love lefty players so naturally my eye gravitated to Husband. This lefty pin is a vigorous offensive weapon who can take big, powerful swings from anywhere on the court—whether in the middle, from the pins, or even out of the back row. Her ability to attack effectively from anywhere on the court kept the opponents guessing. Her consistency, power and grit make her an automatic “go-to.” With her aggressive play and and powerful attacking, she is dominate force on the court that any coach would wish they had.

Her blocking is a standout skill, and she brings intensity and confidence to big matchups. With a passion for shutting down attackers and a smile that surfaces mid-rally, she’s the kind of player who rises to the occasion. SR is currently focused on refining her transitions and becoming even faster off the net to connect with quicker sets and stay in rhythm.

“I love the competition in a game, and I love being competitive and working together with my team to get the win,” she shared. “Blocking is my best skill because my passion is to shut people down, and I really enjoy doing that.”

One of her favorite memories came during a matchup against Legacy, a team fresh off a win against nationally ranked A5. Despite nerves, SR brought the energy. Within the first two points, she blocked Legacy’s top outside twice. Her grin mid-rally said it all. That moment confirmed what she already knew. She belongs in high-level play.

Off the court, SR finds balance in quiet moments with classic literature, especially her current favorite, Pride and Prejudice. She’s aiming to make the JV team at Marymount, raise her GPA, and embrace new opportunities throughout her freshman year. With her mix of fire and focus, SR is ready to make her mark.

Even with nerves walking onto the big court for the final, SR rose to the occasion. “It felt like everything clicked at just the right time.” Her confidence and readiness under pressure proved she could handle the moment, and contribute in high-level situations.

“I want to give a big shoutout to my coaches, Lorrie and Irene, for being so supportive and for making our season, on and off the court, so much fun. Another thank-you goes to all the parents who worked so hard behind the scenes to plan, organize, and take care of us, we wouldn’t be here without you. And to my teammates, thank you for such a fun, memorable season. We all improved so much and made new friendships that I’m excited to carry into next season. Thank you all so, so much.”
