Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Dig Scout
Kuyn’s profile is different than most middles, but her production is on pair with the best in the position. She’s more of an all-around player, who could be used on the left or the right, but finds ways to get the job done on both sides of the ball at the net. She’s long and extremely mobile and uses these skills to beat opponents across the net. Kuyn is also solid on the backcourt and and can contribute with her passing and defense as well. She plays for Alamo 18 Premier.

Middle is a position of strength for the Alamo 17 Premier team that will compete in the 17 Open division and Kuyn is one of their standouts there. Versatility and mobility are possibly the two words that describe her game as she can do a lot of different things on the court and is always on the move too. Kuyn is very long and jumps really well, being a strong offensive weapon for the team – she can also score at a high clip from either pin. Because of her excellent mobility and length, her blocking is also a factor. Kuyn is an extremely well-rounded player too, who can pass and play defense.

Efficiency and versatility are probably the two words that best describe Kuyn’s play in the tournament. Technically a middle blocker, the 6’1″ prospect could be seen all over the court, hitting from the left and the right and also playing some very good defense on the backcourt. Her game is very fluid and complete, which gives coaches a lot of flexibility on how to use her. A key piece in a strong Brandeis team, Kuyn tallied 59 kills, 27 digs and five blocks in the tournament.

After being more of a rotational piece in last year’s loaded squad, the 6’1” Kuyn has emerged in a more prominent role with the Broncos this year. In theory, she’s a middle, but she definitely doesn’t limit her play to that position, hitting from both pins and the backcourt and being an active piece in the team’s passing and defensive system. Kuyn is also an outstanding blocker as she makes great use of her long arms and impeccable reading and timing at the net.
