Miss Gibson’s competitive habits she has built showed clearly when she stepped onto the showcase floor in Indianapolis. The 5’9″ right side from Brandeis earned a Top Performer award by bringing her full game to the event, attacking with range from the right pin, and also engaging at the net with timing and purpose. Court coaches noted her leadership across the scrimmage segments, where she communicated loudly and consistently and pulled her teammates into rallies rather than trying to control the outcome herself. She handled every competitive moment with the sportsmanship and confidence that college staffs look for when they are evaluating character alongside tools. Listed on the Prep Dig Texas official watch list, Gibson gave programs from outside her region a reason to put her on their board after June 24th. Please help me congratulate her on earning Top Performer honors at this showcase. 

Gibson (pictured) will give opponents problems with not only her hard swings this fall, but pinpoint accuracy. Gibson consistently paints the side and back lines in addition to the corners. Gibson takes a textbook four-step approach to the net, gets on top of balls then delivers powerful shots. Gibson tools blocks well and also has a good block technique to control the net.

Madeleine Gibson Madeleine Gibson 5'9" | RS/OH Brandeis | 2029 TX has been tested against legitimate size and athleticism throughout her development in both high school and club. As a right side, her evaluation centers on net engagement, blocking technique against opposing pin hitters, and her ability to generate offense from the right side when the set is not always in rhythm. We will be watching her closely in the showcase setting and it will reveal how she handles transition speed. Right sides with her size and class standing are worth tracking as recruiting interest should come from competing against this kind of talent pool.  She has earned her spot in our official watch list and we want to see her more to see if she can one day break through into the ranking list. We have seen her earn Top Performer honors in a past showcase and will see if she can replicate that performance at nationals.

A right side hitter, Gibson displayed an interesting ability to put the ball down in difficult situations, scoring at a high rate in out-of-system plays. A lefty, she seemed to always find a way through the block, using her solid technical skills to make different shots. Gibson also had a solid blocking presence, getting in front of opponents and pressing them above the net. She also displayed excellent ball control, standing out in the defense and serve-receive drills.
