Milani Marrero
About Milani
Expert Analysis

I kept checking and as far as I can see, Milani Marrero is not committed to a college…yet. I was so impressed by the libero for AVC 17 Red where she was a major catalyst to their success. She plays with control, she’s not chaotic as a libero. There is a poise and maturity to her game where she provides a clean first contact, a high hittable second ball, and finds a way to make the rally better. She would be one I would have on the radar heading into Triple Crown.

Marrero, a 2nd team all-district selection in 2025, has a 5.3 d/m average for SJA over two varsity seasons and is poised to assume the primary libero role in 2026 due to graduation. Also uncommitted at this point as part of AVC 17 Red, she advanced tools to make a big impact at the next level, which include intentional point vision and engagement, quickness in her reaction, and composure to make big plays with effort, angles and range increases through her first step and pursuit in all directions. The primary libero for this team as a 16U squad, her effectiveness is key to igniting this big offense and to extend rallies against high quality opponents.

Marrero (*pictured) continues to solidify herself as a high quality libero with a lot of time to make even greater gains in her prep career ahead of her. I anticipate she will be an even bigger difference maker in a role that is often overshadowed by the attention big hitters tend to receive. She is a terrific point-starter with her passing and defense as she is quick, reacts well with balance, and has good composure to create angles that can put her team’s offense into good situations.

I really like Marrero’s game as a libero. She is a backbone-type of player in what she does to ignite an offense while frustrating opponents with her passing and defense tools and effectiveness. She reads and tracks with comfort and ease in her movement, rarely getting rattled, while also showing the grit and aggressiveness to extend and sacrifice herself to make big plays and creating more opportunities for the hitters around her. AVC 16 Red will look to take down teams early as part of Power Pool B.

Marrero did a good job constantly shuffling her feet moving in position to square up her arms to balls for sound passes. Marrero dug up solid hitters a number of times throughout the event. Marrero had 145 digs to help the Jaguars to a 19-9 record and the Division I state championship game.
