6 rotation setter, Tinsley Welker – Brown, showed up and showed out this past weekend at LSC. Running a full game is no easy feat, and Tinsley handles it with ease. She keeps her team running at a clean and even tempo throughout play, giving her hitters something reliable. Her consistency boosts the confidence of her teammates and reassures control of momentum. A 5-1 offense with this girl… no hesitation.

Tinsley has made a huge jump in the State Rankings in this update. She is now currently ranked as the 5th best overall player according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings and also 50th overall nationally. She plays volleyball for Fort Bend Austin High School and also plays for the Houston Skyline volleyball Club program. Recently she chose to play her collegiate ball at the University of Arizona and they will have an immediate impact setter and leader from the moment she steps on campus. Not only is she gifted with the ball in her hands, but she is able to run a five one offense and block while at the net at a very high level. Her leadership truly stands out as she doesn’t get rattled in tough/tight moments against top-level competition. As a matter of fact, I have seen her rise to the occasion and play even better in those moments. They say that stars step up when big moments happen and that is exactly who Tins is as a player. When you watch her deliver the ball, she makes the correct read and also places it exactly where her attackers need it in order to succeed. We are proud of her hard work and chose to reward her accordingly. Please help us congratulate her on moving up in our prestigious State Rankings.

Welker-Brown and the Fort Bend Austin Lady Bulldogs will also be in action at Katy Taylor HS, where they will be challenged against Bridgeland, Oak Ridge and Mayde Creek. A starter for them since her freshman season, she’s become more and more important for the team, making a huge impact on their performance from the setter position. Since her first season, Welker-Brown has clearly shown she has the physical and technical tools to develop into an elite setter, and that has become even more evident as she added more experience to her play. A six-footer, she has great setting hands and is very intelligent with her decision-making, keeping the team’s offense in a good rhythm. She also contributes to their point-scoring efforts with her blocking and setter dumps, besides eventually taking up hitting duties.

Tinsley has made a huge jump in the rankings and is now listed in the top 10. She went from being ranked as the 22nd best overall prospect to the 9th best overall prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Fort Bend Austin High School and plays club for the famed Houston Skyline volleyball program. I just wrote an article about her after watching her in person at the Triple Crown NIT and here is what wrote about her, “After watching her all of last year, I knew that this year she was going to explode as a player and boy has she. After what I witnessed this past weekend at Triple Crown, her stock is definitely rising. Many words come to mind when I wrote down notes on her individual play and some of them were unshakeable, athletic, confident, powerful, skilled etc. She is tailor-made for running a 5-1 offense due to her frame, strength, speed and volleyball IQ. It was really refreshing to see a setter communicate with her hitters before the play began and then execute with the exact location and tempo that she wanted. What was very awesome to watch was in a tightly contested match, she had no fear and supreme confidence in her teammates and led them to victory. At the net, she was a dominant blocker with her long arms and power.” The entire season has seen Tins dominate everyone that she encounters. Her squad is one of the best in the age group thanks in large part to her individual play. It was a no brainer to move her up really high in this list as I watched her ball out amongst the nations best squads over the last two months. She just might be one of the best setters in her grad class and I think every college in the country should take a look. Please help us congratulate her on earning a spot in our State Rankings.

She used impressive speed to catch up to the ball in order to be in perfect position to deliver it to an attacker. I was thoroughly impressed with her effort. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award for her individual play.

A sophomore, Welker is the centerpiece of Austin’s playing system and made everyone around her better with her game. She ran an efficient offense against Katy Taylor, keeping all her hitters involved, making good decisions and remaining precise, even when dealing with passes off the net. Because of her size, Welker was also an asset at the net, getting stops with her blocking and scoring in setter dumps. During the match, she took on hitting duties and also joined the team’s passing system, contributing well in both areas.

Welker-Brown quarterbacks Fort Bend Austin at the high school level and is the playmaker of the Houston Skyline 15 Royal team at club – she ranks sixth among the Class of 2027 setters and 28th overall. A six-footer, she’s very athletic and is one of those setters who are definitely not a liability at the net with her size and her ability to make pressure with her blocking. Welker-Brown is a skilled playmaker too as she makes excellent decisions with her distribution and comes through with her precision time and time again. Despite her size, she’s extremely mobile and does an excellent job of tracking passes off the net and turning them into hittable sets.
