Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Hedman’s name jumped off the page on our entry list. We’ve already seen plenty from this 2024 libero on some of Nebraska’s biggest prep stages. She locked down the Grand Island Central Catholic backcourt in 2022 as the Crusaders added a state title to its ever-growing trophy case. Hedman’s leadership persisted for her final prep season as she tallied an astonishing 6.9 digs per set and led GICC to yet another tournament appearance. Saturday’s showcase was a perfect venue to remind us why Hedman is one of the state’s most statistically productive liberos in this year’s senior class.

Ball control wins championship, and GICC’s powerhouse program has a couple of seniors locking down that phase.
Maser, who will take her talents to Drake next fall, has long been one of Nebraska’s most productive setters. That isn’t just limited to assists, either. She commands the net with her physicality and will never be afraid to attack on the second contact. It also helps that Maser is backed up by Hedman, a rock-solid libero with a wealth of high-level experience. This pair clearly has plans to rediscover some championship magic.

Hedman is the anchor to what should be a strong GICC ball control unit this fall. She exceeded 500 digs during GICC’s championship campaign, which was a massive uptick from the year before. Heman’s upward trajectory should continue.

Ball control is still a strength for the Crusaders. While Maser is running the show at setter, Hedman will be a steady force in the libero jersey. Her impact on last season’s championship run cannot be overlooked, and Hedman is building positive momentum after another club season with Nebraska Juniors.

Let’s keep the GICC energy going. While Hasselman locked down the frontcourt, Hedman took care of libero duties in the back row. And she thrived. The junior Crusader put up over 500 digs in 2022 and was even more valuable in taking serve receive burdens off her teammates.
