About Vanessa

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I try my hardest to be the best I can be. If my coach or teammate gives me a correction or tip I always keep it in mind and try to use it in the next rally. I’m always open to try fun and challenging plays and am constantly trying to improve my skills. I would say that I’m consistent and smart with my placement of the ball and use both my physical and mental strength.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

According to my teammates I tend to be the most energetic on the court. I try my hardest each game/practice to be the best I can be and help my teammates in whatever ways I can. I never raise my voice in a negative way towards my coaches and teammates because I believe the best teams are built on respect and trust.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’ve received the pre ACT Rising Scholars award for being in the top 10% of students for the pre ACT. I’m also part of a school club that focuses on spreading mental health awareness and positivity! It’s called Smile club and it creates a healthy environment for all the students at Bethlehem.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being team captain has developed me as a person and player. Before volleyball I was afraid to step up and take the lead but now I never hesitate to take over if something needs to be done. Teamwork is also a huge skill I’ve gained, my team has come a long way since the beginning of our volleyball journey and I truly believe that the biggest factor in that was our bonds with one another.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college with a great volleyball program. I would like to attend a big school out of state that can help me nurture not only my volleyball skills, but also my education.
