All teams that made it to the area rounds are now known and some of them counted on remarkable performances from key players to advance.
Here are six players who were on the court on Tuesday and started the playoffs on fire:
Plano West’s star outside hitter had a tremendous performance which was key to the team’s four-set victory against Allen in the bi-district round. Bayless carried the Lady Wolves’ offense with 20 kills and reached an impressive 48.8% kill percentage, but also helped in other areas of the game. She left the court with 18 passes, 14 digs, two blocks and one ace in her excellent all-around display.

Argyle caused one of the biggest upsets in the bi-district round when, after ranking fourth in district play, they eliminated top-seeded Midlothian with a solid 3-1 victory. The result wouldn’t have been possible without the solid all-around play from Sanchez. The 5’9″ outside hitter was the team’s second-best offensive player with nine kills and led the Eagles’s defensive efforts with 27 passes and 18 digs.
Wakeland continues to roll in the playoffs as the Wolverines started the postseason by extending their current winning streak to 21 matches with a sweep of Memorial. Despite the somewhat short match, star middle Jones had more than enough time to put on a stellar performance, hitting at .524 to produce 11 kills and controlling the net with five blocks.
Highlights
Clear Springs’ standout setter/right side was extremely productive in the team’s sweep of Shadow Creek. As she’s been doing during the entire season, Richardson handled her double duty extremely well, leaving the court with 15 assists and ten kills, besides two aces and a pair of blocks. Perhaps most impressively, she hit an astounding .833, making no offensive errors at all.
Rouse’s talismanic setter led the team to a big 3-1 win over Boerne-Champion that made the Raiders start the postseason on the right foot. Skopal was brilliant with her playmaking, dishing out 49 assists and making no ball handling errors. She also produced on the backcourt with 13 digs and had two blocks and two kills in her performance.

Anderson didn’t feel the pressure of the first playoff match of her career and put on her best performance in the entire season to help Dripping Springs came out on top in a five-set battle against Vandergrift. Anderson was all over the court and filled her stat sheet in a special night. The 6’2″ outside hitter led all players on the court in kills with 25, delivered 20 passes, produced 12 digs and still got an ace.
