Continue ReadingIt is time for all of our amazing California teams to showcase their abilities and vie for a coveted bid to USA Volleyball’s Junior National tournament this summer. Prep Dig California will be attending the Red Rock Rave National Qualifier Week 2 this weekend held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. I can’t wait to see some amazing Cali players in action. Here are a few teams and players that we think will be standing out.

Vision 17 Gold
Taylor Williams Taylor Williams 6'2" | RS Saint Francis | 2024 State #160 Nation CA might be one of the best attackers in the tournament. She has that “It” factor and can score from anywhere. You cannot stop her, you can only hope to contain her. She will get some help from middle Mia Clayton who can run the slide very well. Setter Hailey Newell Hailey Newell 5'9" | S Valley Christian | 2024 State CA can dish some dimes to all locations with great pace. I love how she uses the back row in play sets out of serve receive. Outside hitter Katelyn Cook is another big weapon for this fantastic squad. She can score in a variety of ways for them. Cleo Hardin Cleo Hardin 6'3" | RS Menlo School | 2024 State CA is a stud right side who can be a difference maker for this team on both ends of the court. Because this team moves the ball around so well to multiple hitters, it makes it very difficult for any team to know where the ball is coming from and keeps them on their heels.
Houston Skyline 17 Royal
The setting duo of Kirra Musgrove Kirra Musgrove 6'2" | S Lutheran South Academy | 2025 State #12 Nation TX and Cayley Hanson Cayley Hanson 6'2" | S Deer Park | 2024 State #43 Nation TX is one of the best in the tourney in my opinion. They are two lengthy snipers who can thread the needle of any set at any tempo over and over again. High-flyers Reese Animashaun Reese Animashaun 5'10" | S St. John's | 2024 State #89 Nation TX and Samara Coleman Samara Coleman 6'0" | OH Grand Oaks | 2025 State #74 Nation TX are tough to time because of their hang-time. Their arm swings are extremely fast and if the blockers aren’t keeping their hands high, there is no way they will catch up to the speed of their down swing. Florida commit middle blocker Jaela Auguste Jaela Auguste 6'0" | MB Grand Oaks | 2024 State #17 Nation TX and her counterpart Rheanna Deen-Jackson Rheanna Deen-Jackson 6'1" | MB Atascocita | 2024 State TX are HUGE on the defensive side of the ball and patrol the net so well. Libero Mykayla McMillian Mykayla McMillian 5'3" | DS/L Episcopal | 2024 State TX is a stud floor general and moves so well all around the court tracking down balls and covering her hitters. This team is full of match up nightmares for opponents and if they get rolling, everyone better watch out as they are going to be a problem for the field.

Rancho Valley 16 Premier
Outside Hitters Keonahi’ilani Solaita Keonahi’ilani Solaita 5'10" | OH Oak Hills | 2025 State CA and Morgan Graves are two of the powerhouse attackers who fuel the energy on this team. They both hit at an elite level and can bring the heat from any location on the court. Libero Saniyah Sobers Saniyah Sobers 5'6" | DS/L Redlands | 2025 State CA is stellar in the back row and showcases her athleticism on both defense and serve receive. She has a very strong platform that controls the tempo of the pass very well. She also has a stifling serve that flusters opponents. One of their setters is Tobey Allen and she can hit the bulls eye with her location. This team is poised to showcase their skills against a tough lineup of opponents from across the country. They are on a roll so far this year and are stepping it up big time. I will for sure be by their court to watch them compete at a high level.
Drive Nation 16 Red
Setter Hannah Beauford Hannah Beauford 5'11" | S Prosper | 2025 State #99 Nation TX is as solid as they come and has the leadership skills necessary to keep this team in contention on day three. She earned All Tourney at USA Nationals last year for a reason and has only gotten better. This team has transformed from last year and added a few studs. Sophia Thornburg Sophia Thornburg 6'3" | OH Ursuline Academy | 2025 State TX comes over to this all-star squad from TAV and has been a great addition. She plays opposite of the number three ranked player in the state of Texas, Suli Davis Suli Davis 6'1" | OH Colleyville Heritage | 2025 State #9 Nation TX . This young lady is a star amongst stars and will be a tough out for any team. Since she moved down to play with her true age group this year, she has been very difficult to stop. Libero Sarah Mendoza Sarah Mendoza 5'7" | DS/L Colleyville Heritage | 2025 State TX can flat out ball in the back row. Right Side/Middle Taryn Morris Taryn Morris 6'3" | MB Braswell | 2025 State TX is one of the high flyers on this team that can shut down any attacker in a one on one situation. She is a load to deal with for sure. Alex Richter Alex Richter 6'2" | MB Highland Park | 2025 State TX is another solid swinging option for this high-powered offense to watch out for.
