Our stock riser features for Nebraska’s 2025 rankings update are taking on a positional motif as we try to highlight as many players as possible. We’ve already covered some liberos that just climbed up the leaderboard, and now it’s time to give the pin hitters their due. Once again, there’s some serious talent here.
Keep the stock risers rolling.
Apfel starts what will be a strong run of VCNebraska athletes on this feature. The Norris standout makes her presence felt in every way possible, from her ball control skills on first contact to her termination in the frontcourt. Players like Apfel can form the foundation of continued state tournament success for Norris.
Piatkowski keeps climbing. The six-rotation mainstay for Nebraska Elite 16 Koa has seen her stock rise precipitously over the past year, and much of that is thanks to her work on the club side. Nebraska Elite has found a ton of success with outside hitters who fit Piatkowski’s mold: quick off the floor and reliable in serve receive, too.

Seagren has made her mark as a middle blocker, particularly with a championship-winning Oakland-Craig program in high school venues. But her role with VCNebraska 16 Elite has revealed some incredible versatility. Seagren makes the seamless move to the opposite position for 16 Elite, and it allows this small-town talent to showcase her talent on the pins. Who knows what his fall might bring.
Let’s stay on the right pin for another emerging standout from the Premier Nebraska gym. Lowe has experienced a late-season surge with 17 Silver, which is a particularly impressive feat while playing against older athletes. We will continue to highlight the Show Me Qualifier as a breakthrough moment for 17 Silver, and Lowe had a major hand in that brilliant weekend.

Chvatal checks in as a consistent standout for Club Legacy 16 Alpha. That’s not the only way she has stood out, however, as her work at last year’s Prep Dig Showcase made a lasting impression on our scouts. A big opportunity emerges this fall as Chvatal becomes an upperclassman leader with Omaha Concordia.

Liebsack is carrying on a family tradition of impactful outside attacking. The Bennington standout has quickly emerged as the leader terminator for Premier 16 Silver, and that seems to be the case no matter which pin Liebsack is on. Her recent work on the left pin is a big factor in her rankings rise, but 16 Silver can trust Liebsack to make plays at opposite, too.

Speaking of opposites, let’s return to the right pin to address Plueger’s emergence with Nebraska Elite 16 Koa. It’s hard to miss Plueger’s quick arm and effortless elevation when she rotates into the frontcourt. This athleticism changes the dynamic of a match when she’s along the net. Such a development has warranted a big boost for the Platteview prep star, and the best may be yet to come with the Trojans.
VCNebraska 16 Black boasts an impressive group of under-the-radar attackers, and Schroeder is a perfect example. The Malcolm prep star was able to experience the pressure of state tournament volleyball last fall, priming Schroeder to make some big gains during the club season. Could we see more of the same high-profile action with Malcolm in 2023?
While Schroeder has been impressive on the right side for VCN 16 Black, Hathaway has left her stamp on the other pin. It’s also worth noting that Lincoln Southwest is stockpiling some serious pin talent, so it’s now wonder why this program remains a championship frontrunner in 2023.
Like Chvatal, Carlstrom put herself on the map with an impressive outing at our Prep Dig Showcase last December. She then picked up where she left off with another strong spring campaign with South Central NE, a club that has brought some of Nebraska’s best small-town standouts to the forefront.
