Our ‘tall talents’ theme has been a recurring series for the past few years. These features look at players who offer the kind of extraordinary physicality that can’t be taught. And, in the past several weeks, Nebraska has brought its share of tall talents to the forefront.
So, with no classes off limits in this one, we’re identifying ten tall talents who have recently taken a big step forward in Nebraska’s club volleyball scene.
Lamb was in the middle of all the action as Premier 17 Black rolled to a title at last month’s Great Plains Region Bid Tournament. Her presence at the middle blocker position was noticeable for Omaha Westside last fall, and nothing has changed in this year’s club season. Lamb has developed some impressive range on the quick and pairs that with some stout blocking from pin to pin.
Here’s a standout 2024 athlete who just finished their club campaign on the 18s side. Rasgorshek has been in the spotlight since early-season regional events–a particularly impressive feat while playing up an age group. This is also another example of Nebraska ONE having success with small-town talents, so keep an eye on Rasgorshek as she competes with Crete this fall.
Venable has been one of Nebraska’s most notable stock risers since she lit up the scoreboard with Lincoln Pius X as a sophomore. She then made a big statement at our Prep Dig Showcase last December before picking right up where she left off in the 2023 club season. High efficiency offense will remain a storyline as Venable returns to the court for another high school campaign.
VCNebraska 16 Elite is clearly not lacking physicality in the middle. Link has put together a stock-rising club season as a new addition to the VCN gym. The Omaha Skutt Catholic standout has already experienced the glory of winning a state championship, and now she’s adding some impressive club highlights to her credit, too. Whether in front of the setter or behind, Link remains a difficult player for opposing teams to defend.
Bosiljevac is another athlete who has experience playing for some different club teams, but she has managed to thrive regardless of who’s around her. This year, a move to the right pin with Premier 16 Red has been incredibly fruitful and has shown Bosiljevac’s full range as an outside attacker. When you consider her background as a middle blocker, it appears there’s little Bosiljevac can’t accomplish in the frontcourt.
We’ve learned a lot about Levinson’s game in the past several weeks. Her strength along the net is matched by the incredible intensity she brings to the Premier 16 Black huddle. This is the kind of passionate leader you want anchoring the middle blocker spot, and Levinson is poised to take a few more steps forward as we look ahead to the fall.
Brown keeps our run of middle blockers going. The Omaha Duchesne prep star has taken full advantage of her time with Nebraska Elite 16 Vision and will be a go-to attacker in this gym for a while. Beyond her offensive prowess, Brown reads opposing setters well and seals blocks well with that excellent anticipation.
VCNebraska claims another tall talent on this feature, this time at the 15s level. And, like many of the other players listed here, Griffin is a multi-positional standout who can offer her services in a variety of places. She has been a standout setter in recent action with 15 Elite, but Griffin has also proven to be a terminal pin attacker whenever she’s needed there. Being a tall talent helps no matter where Griffin is lined up.
Speaking of teams heading to Nationals, we’ll have a close eye on Premier 15 Black after its big breakthrough at NLQ. Johansen remained a major contributor for 15 Black in late-season action and did most of her damage on the right side. However, Johansen also brings extraordinary value on the left pin whenever she’s rotated into the left-front area. Keep tabs on that versatility when 15 Black hits the road to Chicago.
Highlights
Nebraska ONE 15 Black is loaded with players who can play any frontcourt position, and Peterson is certainly one of the athletes who fits that description. This fast-rising 2026 made the most of 15 Black’s charge through the 15s field at the Great Plains Bid Tournament and terminated from just about anywhere along the net. We can now get ready to watch Peterson’s skills flourish again when Nebraska ONE takes on Nationals.
