There were around 60 prospects on the court during the event held at the Texas Tornados club, coming not only from H-Town, but also from several other cities in the Lone Star State, such as Austin, San Antonio, McAllen and Corpus Christi, and it was a highly competitive, yet very fun atmosphere.
Fellow Prep Dig scout Mallori Howington, myself and the court coaches were paying attention to everything and were pleased to see many prospects standing out with their strong play. We’ll spend the next few days highlighting them and here are some more names we’d like to give a shoutout:
One of the top prospects in our Prep Dig Class of 2026 State Rankings, Robinson showed again the reasons for that in our event. Her strong offensive game made of her one of the most impressive prospects in the first drills as no one else combined size, jumping ability, reach and a quick and heavy arm in the way she did. Seeing Robinson in action during the match-like drills, though, makes it easier to understand why she’s considered one of the most promising prospects in Texas. He’s more agile than many would expect from a 6’2″ prospect and has both the technical skills and the determination to play very good defense.
Highlights
Scott was one of the standouts in our Prep Dig Stock Up Showcase in Dallas, two weeks ago, and she took full advantage of the opportunity to raise her stock in the Houston area too. Her game is very well-developed from a technical standpoint and she adds a lot to it with her quick thinking and smart decision-making. A tall setter, Scott uses her height contact point very well, playing fast when she has a chance, but not lacking in accuracy or consistency. She also displayed a great attitude on the court, playing with a smile on her face and positive words.

Kyla Gilbert
Kyla Gilbert
I watched Gilbert for the first time back in January, during the club season, and it was nice to see how her game developed in just a few months. Her technique seems a bit improved, but more important than that, she looks more explosive and confident on the court. During the first defensive drills, Gilbert did a very good job of stretching her body and getting good contact with the ball to make plays. Her digs and passes were also always very accurate and she did a very good job when she had to recover shanked passes or digs that went away from the court.
Thomas held her own in the match-like drills playing against some really strong middles and showed she has what it takes to make an impact at the net. A very physical player, she’s learning how to best use her tools on both sides of the ball and that was seen during the showcase as she was solid with her offense and her blocking. Thomas has clearly expanded her offensive game, having even spent some time playing on the right, and has refined her blocking too, adding a bit of aggressiveness to it and improved her timing when making stops.
Highlights
Versatility is always an important asset and although several prospects played multiple positions during the event, very few did so with the same efficiency she did. Primarily a setter, she displayed great court awareness, good decision-making and was always precise and consistent with her distribution. She played as a right side hitter in some drills too and impressed with a very interesting offensive game. Srubar gets off the floor well, does a very good job of increasing her reach by swinging with a fully-stretched arm and hits the ball with a lot of power.
