The Titans rebounded well after their two set loss 24-26, 17-25 in the Conference final to the Timberwolves on Saturday. Norris swept the Timberwolves on their home court 25-22,25-23,2The Titans are 2-1 in games against the Timberwolves this fall.
Coach Christina Boesiger commented, “I thought the girls came out and played really focused tonight. We had a great film session on Monday after losing to them in the EMC Tournament championship match and I thought the girls were pretty dialed in. She felt the girls passed really, really well which allowed them to run their fast tempo offense. We were able to spread our offense from pin to pin and tried to get a lot of our hitters involved. Elkhorn North is a great team so for us to go there and get a three game sweep was really special for our team.”
Junior Anna Jelinek Anna Jelinek 5'9" | DS/L Norris | 2025 State NE had a monster night for the Titans, as she hammered 21 kills and matched that with a team high 21 digs. Freshman setter Malorie Boesiger fed her at all the right times throughout the match. They have a great chemistry after a stellar club season together for Nebraska One Synergy 16’s. Jelinek had some phenomenal back row swings and did a great job of tooling off of the Timberwolves pesky block. Boesiger distributed the ball well across the net as junior outside Zoe Rademacher Zoe Rademacher 5'6" | DS/L Norris | 2025 State NE had 14 kills and junior Lexi Hasselbach chipped in with 10 kills. Boesiger finished the night with 46 set assists and six digs.
Norris’ back row was on point in serve receive all night allowing Boesiger a hay day at the net. Elkhorn North had a hard time finding the open spot as Grayson Pienning tallied 13 digs, Sydney Guthard Sydney Guthard 5'3" | DS/L Norris | 2024 State NE 11, Rya Borer Rya Borer 5'1" | DS/L Norris | 2025 State NE 10 and Alivia Hausmann Alivia Hausmann 5'5" | DS/L Norris | 2024 State NE chipped in 8. They were relentless on defense the entire match.
Standout freshman middle Reagan Wallraff Reagan Wallraff 6'0" | MB Elkhorn North | 2027 NE was a force at the net last night for the Timberwolves. She ran the slide so efficiently. She jumps well, has a fast arm swing and is quick laterally. She hit .565 and had 14 kills on the night. She is hard to stop and hits that sharp angle so well on the slide. Senior Ava Spies Ava Spies 5'9" | OH Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE hammered 10 kills on the night. She is so explosive and jumps so well. Senior Reese Booth Reese Booth 5'7" | S Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE had 33 set assists in the loss. Senior Delaney Briganti Delaney Briganti 5'9" | MB Elkhorn North | 2024 State NE a smaller sized middle, had a great night too with a stuff block and 4 kills. She too, did a great job of getting touches to slow down the Titan offense, Freshman Kaitlyn Huff Kaitlyn Huff 6'0" | RS Elkhorn North | 2027 NE is another name to keep tabs on. She had a nice game on the right side pin to slow down some of the Titans swings.
The atheticism on both sides of the net was top tier. There were monster swings and stellar digs on both sides of the net. Both setters kept the offenses humming. The two veteran coaches have known each other for a long time and kept playing volleyball chess. It was a great atmosphere on Tuesday and could be an early indicator of what is to come at the State Tournament in November.
