SubscribeI always love it when setters just know how to make their offense run efficiently. It is such a tricky balance and one that can go unseen, especially when things are going well. The setters at the WIAA State Tournament were exceptional. They played clean, impressive volleyball and kept their offenses running from the first point to the last. Here are some of the setters who ran the show!
You cannot write this article without starting with Jordan. She led her team to two straight state championship titles, running a 5-1. Jordan had 40 assists in the state championship match alone. Her ability to make quick decisions while having pinpoint precision with her sets makes her one of the best athletes in the state. She is smart, has a high volleyball IQ, and utilizes every single one of her hitters.
Highlights
Lilly is an athlete I will miss seeing on the court next year, though I cannot wait to see her impact at Maryland. She is an energizer, leader, and stud volleyball player. Lilly had 48 assists and knows how to get her team to click. In the championship match, Oconomowoc had three players with ten or more kills, and Lilly’s ability to spread her offense and find her middle, even when she was off the net, was crucial for the hitters’ success.
Though she is only a sophomore, Brooke led her team in a mature and confident way. She has great hands and can be an offensive weapon as well. Brooke is no stranger to playing under pressure. She was one of the key players in her club team’s national championship this past summer.
Highlights
Emerson only continues to impress me with her high volleyball IQ and great court awareness. She is very strong defensively and hard to read as a setter. Emerson’s quick touch on the ball and clean jump set hold a lot of blockers in their place, giving her hitters open blocks. Emerson is a very competitive athlete with a lot of grit and hustle.
Mariah led her team to their second straight state championship. She had 29 assists in Xavier’s state championship sweep. There were five athletes with five or more kills throughout the match, which is really impressive. Mariah keeps the ball moving quickly and efficiently. She has a ton of power as an athlete and uses it to push balls from pin to pin from nearly anywhere on the court.
Ava shows so much resilience on the court. No matter what the score is, Ava will fight for every point. She has clean hands, a seemingly endless amount of hustle, and great court awareness. Ava has had a huge impact on this talented McFarland team.

Catherine Williams
Catherine Williams
Catherine was new on my radar as of the state tournament. She is a freshman setter running a 5-1 and led her team to a state championship title. What an incredible accomplishment. Catherine was calm and executed well under pressure. She made smart choices and never missed a beat on the court. She had 50 assists in their 5-set thriller against Howards Grove for the state title. This is an athlete to watch in this class.

Jaelyn Stowe
Jaelyn Stowe
Jaelyn is an absolute gamer on the court. She helped lead her team to not one but two reverse sweeps and a state championship title. Jaelyn has been a leader on this team for several years, and her connection with the other players shows. Jaelyn is also strong defensively as well.
