It was quite the morning at the Courts in Beaverton on Sunday, November 19th. With over 80 athletes from Oregon and Washington gathering to compete, it was a fast-paced and high-energy-filled gym.
Here are the 2026 passers that caught our eye at the 2023 Oregon Top 250 Expo.
Brooks, a defensive specialist and outside hitter from Barlow High School, showed off her consistent passing and seamless movement around the court during the Top 250 Expo. Brooks is a very steady back row player, particularly on serve receive, and that control shone through on Sunday as Brooks passed dimes off really tough serves. Although she focused on passing during the Expo, Brooks is also a talented and powerful attacker.
Ginter is an incredibly talented back row player, and she played excellently on Sunday. The Central Catholic defensive specialist is very disciplined technically, and during the Top 250 Expo she was making high level defensive moves to make plays. On defense, Ginter reads the ball incredibly well and is not afraid to fly around the court to pick up a ball. On serve receive, she is consistent and commands the back court well. During the Expo, Ginter was vocal and impressive, and she brought her tough jump serve to bring the heat from the baseline.
Jespersen, a West Salem defensive specialist, is tiny but mighty, and takes control of the back row with ease. Jespersen is an excellent communicator, and during the Expo she impressed with her natural leadership on the court. She also played great on serve receive, moving quickly to each hard serve that came her way and putting up solid passes. In positional drills, Jespersen’s free ball passes were super consistent, and her defense was steady.
A defensive specialist for Jesuit, Johnson is an incredible back row player. She is undoubtedly one of the most athletic defensive specialists in her class, which proves beneficial for Johnson’s ability to pick up practically any ball that comes her way. During the Top 250 Expo, Johnson showcased her insane speed and agility, and in gameplay she commanded the back row to make impressive plays. Johnson is a very hardworking athlete, and her discipline and drive shine through when she’s on the court.
Highlights
Shivakumar, a defensive specialist and outside hitter for Valley Catholic, brought consistency and solid first contacts to the Top 250 Expo. Shivakumar is very steady on serve receive; during the Expo, she was putting up great passes off tough serves. With her good first touches on the ball, Shivakumar also created a lot of opportunities for her teammates to score during gameplay. She also was deadly from the baseline with her impressive jump float serve.
The Nelson libero, Trees, showcased her impressive quickness and athleticism during the Top 250 Expo. Trees is fearless in the back row, and on Sunday she effortlessly flew around the court to make diving plays and put up beautiful passes off of hard-driven attacks. During gameplay, Trees passed seamlessly on serve receive and led her team’s back row well, even putting up great sets to the pins when her team’s setter took the first ball. Trees also dominated with her tough jump float serve.
Witt stood out quickly during the Top 250 Expo with her very consistent passing in all aspects. The Tigard libero is quick and reactive, and on Sunday she was quite effective in the back row with her fast reads on the ball and agility. Witt showcased her good reaction time on defense, including her efficient footwork to get to the ball effectively. She was also super positive throughout the day and was eager to jump into each drill with enthusiasm.
