Most of all they were supportive and smart, making the players around them better. Here is a closer look at several junior prospects who had an excellent run at the Expo.
Berry was impressive defensively out of the setter position at the Expo. Coaches highlighted her ability to cover tips and off-speed shots and her overall footspeed and range. The Wenatchee junior stayed dynamic in her setting, consistently utilizing a jump set to keep the defense honest and the tempo high. It was a tough trip over the pass for our Central Washington athletes, we appreciate all of them making the trip!

The Tahoma and DaKine Volleyball Club setter was impressive in person, with soft hands and a steady location setting to both pins and her middles. Foote displayed a confident command of the court, strong hands, and the ability to find attackers when she was on the move. She is well-trained and consistently finds the target in positional drills. Foote celebrates when her teammate makes a great play, it was easy to see her positive attitude influence the play of her team on the court.

Court coaches appreciated the focus Togia brought to the Expo and her cool and collected decision-making that kept all of her attackers involved. She was as steady and consistent as any setter at the event, executed simple plays with ease, and made the tough plays look easier than they should be. Togia displayed good body control and her trademark strong hands to make plays on passes tight to the net.

Akolzin is a confident and technical player, who played with a maturity and sense of purpose at the Expo. She always moved her feet into excellent position, staying low and using an economy of motion to have a solid base when setting up. That allowed Akolzin to zip a ball with tempo to the outside or throw an accurate backset against the flow.

Phipps had a great way of leaving her middles at the perfect distance off the net with her assets, allowing the attacker enough room to maneuver around the block. That sense of location held up in the same fashion when she set the pipe, Phipps led the hitters through the 10-foot line, giving them the ability to keep the ball in front and accelerate through the swing. Like a great quarterback leading receivers out of a route, her setting allowed attackers to move to the ball, minimizing having to bend back and play the ball behind them. The Eastlake junior showed good overall size and movement, playing defense first and handling swings out of her right-back spot.

Clauson is a Lake Stevens 2025 with a fundamentally solid set-up, neutral body and hand positioning, and a repeatable, hard-to-read setting motion. The Vikings were spoiled this season with multiple high-quality setters in the gym, and Clauson should factor into that mix again next season. She is stronger and taller watch her in person, and Clauson was able to flick the ball to the pin with pace from multiple spots on the court.
Highlights
The Space Needle standout showed the quality play and athleticism that we have noticed throughout her club and high school career. Smooth to the ball with easy movement around the court, Cornelius has the athleticism to score as a pin and that same athleticism shows when she plays the setter position. Her flow and movement impressed the court coaches both defensively and in handling tough chances after off-target first contact.
Mysha Janif

Janif was at the Expo from British Columbia, and the Grandview Heights player impressed coaches with her hustle, ability to play balls out of the net, and a nice follow-through on her sets. Janif was strong back setting to the right side and worked hard defensively in the six-on-six portion of play.
