Continue Reading15s is always an exciting year in the volleyball world. A lot of these athletes are starting to make really fast improvements. They are coming into their own, building momentum in hopes of what will be a breakout sophomore year of high school in the fall. We had a lot of athletes making a statement this past weekend at the Prep Dig Champions Cup in Appleton. Here are 15 performances to note from the 15s division at the Champions Cup.
Tatum Jahns Tatum Jahns 5'9" | S Muskego | 2027 WI – Milwaukee Juniors 15-1
Jahns was the key cog to the machine that was Milwaukee Juniors 15-1. The setter/right side combo player could do a little bit of everything for her team. In the backrow, she is a high IQ setter where she gets her feet to the ball and is able to find open attackers. In the front line, she is on the right side where she can score points with a variety of shots. This team is extremely balanced, that showed in their dominant performance enroute to the 15s title. However, a lot of their success runs through Jahns and how she can manufacture positive touches.
Maddie Kuglitsch – Milwaukee Juniors 15-1
From the outside, Kuglitsch was a big time scorer all weekend for Milwaukee Juniors. She wasn’t afraid to take a big swing and be aggressive. Not only was she able to score from the outside, but she was a really solid defender out of middle back where she could pass and serve receive a really clean first contact. In the entire 15s field, she was one of the top attackers where she had a really high efficiency where she could swing big and keep the ball in the court, most likely for a kill. Kaliyah Terrell was another key point scorer for Milwaukee Juniors where she had a really fast arm and always seemed to find a kill at the right moment.
Piper Graham Piper Graham 5'10" | MB Muskego | 2027 WI – Milwaukee Juniors 15-1
Graham owned the middle with her block and ability to score points over the weekend at the Champions Cup. She is a fast twitch type of middle who could get her hand high and really snap down on the ball. Her ability to connect with setters was essential to her game where she could hit a variety of tempos. With a lot of power on the outside, Graham had a lot of one on one opportunities that she really took advantage of.
Megan Brendel – Xtreme VBC 15 Adidas
Brendel brought a really athletic and dynamic style to the outside for Xtreme VBC out of La Crosse. This team was dominant all weekend until they ran into Milwaukee Juniors in the championship. Brendel was a big point scorer where she could be relied upon to go sharp cross or even use the block to her advantage. She is building plenty of momentum for what will be a big sophomore season for her at Viroqua.
Mara McNaughton Mara McNaughton 5'3" | DS/L West Salem | 2027 WI – Xtreme VBC 15 Adidas
I really like to find liberos who can quietly make a huge difference and I saw that in Mara McNaughton Mara McNaughton 5'3" | DS/L West Salem | 2027 WI . She was always under control from serve receive to passing and made things much easier for the Xtreme side of the net to get in system. Setters Addison Sazama-Nauman and Adriana Rumpca-Veronese ran a great offense and with on point passes by McNaughton they were able to use all of their attackers.
Maylee Glaser Maylee Glaser 5'8" | OH Kettle Moraine | 2027 WI – MKE Sting 15 Silver
This Sting 15 Silver team I was able to see at the Prep Dig Resolution in January and like most of these teams from January to March, I saw so much improvement. One attacker on this team who really swings aggressively is Maylee Glaser Maylee Glaser 5'8" | OH Kettle Moraine | 2027 WI . She is a dependable scorer from the outside and even the backrow. She provides a great outlet for this team out of system and will find a way to score points.
Emily Becker Emily Becker 5'8" | OH Wisconsin Lutheran | 2027 WI – MKE Sting 15 Silver
With Glaser and Becker on the outside, Sting 15 Silver is always going to be in the hunt. They can score in and out of system. Becker is another attacker who has textbook footwork where her last two steps in her approach are fast and to the ball. She knows how to avoid a block and will hit the IQ shot, a very efficient athlete for Sting.
Isabella Brown – Wisconsin Juniors 15 Elite
WI Juniors 15 Elite runs a 6-2 system with two setters, Brown being one of them. She brings a big time spark to the court with her presence. It all starts with her serve where she has a confidence in hitting her spot, forcing the other team out of system. On her side of the net she knows how to get the ball to all of her attackers and feed the hot hand where she does a great job of connecting with her middles.
Ava Winter Ava Winter 5'10" | OH Westosha Central | 2027 WI – Wisconsin Juniors 15 Elite
Winter is a 5’9 pin attacker where she can score on the outside or right side. She is a 2027 prospect from Westosha Central High School. This past weekend she showed how her length and athleticism is a huge strength where she is able to contact the ball square and score points. She also has great blocking technique where she can establish position to control the ball, blocking it back into the court.
Lauren McKinnon – 1W Bay 15 Crimson
McKinnon really stood out this past weekend, she literally jumped off the court and made a major impact on the game for 1W Bay 15 Crimson who would have a final four finish. She takes an aggressive approach and isn’t afraid to take a big rip. She was consistently scoring points all weekend. She saw time on the varsity court for Ashwaubenon this past season. Her athletic ability and ability to hit the ball hard was impressive.
Nora Halverson – South Shore Slam 15 Lime
Halverson was super impressive this weekend for the South Shore Slam that is out of the Sheboygan/Manitowoc area. Halverson saw some time for a successful Sheboygan Falls varsity team this past fall. She is going to have a big sophomore season with what she showed this past weekend. Her approach is aggressive and her swing is violent. She was finding ways to score points from the front and backrow. Absolutely electric.
Mykenna Weigert – South Shore Slam 15 Lime
There is a bright future for Sheboygan Falls with the number of athletes they have playing club in the offseason. Weigert is a setter for South Shore Slam 15 Lime where she was so steady and dependable for her team. She could defend, transition, put up a clean ball, serve aggressively, and does a nice job of connecting with everyone on the court. She has that “It” factor when it comes to good setters.
Rylan Macha – 1W Bay 15 Onyx
Macha was a really efficient player for 1W Bay 15 Onyx who played with a lot of fire over the weekend. Macha would set the tone from the service line and was able to get her hands on the ball to set up her attackers for success. One of the key attackers for this team was lefty right side Maya Tedtman who was able to provide plenty of kills and blocks for 1W.
Addysen Oldenburg Addysen Oldenburg 6'1" | MB West Salem | 2027 WI – Xtreme VBC 15 Adidas
Oldenburg will definitely be one to watch in the Class of 2027, she has a major upside to her game as a really dynamic athlete out of the middle. With her length and athleticism she could potentially play any front row position. She’s 6’1 and can move really well with quite a wingspan. She preps at West Salem who has been a program that has been making some postseason runs in volleyball and basketball.
Ava Van Camp Ava Van Camp 5'6" | DS/L Kimberly | 2025 State WI – VVCBC 15 Lime
Valley Velocity is a relatively new club out of the Fox Valley area where they have some scrappy athletes. One athlete from this squad who was sure to take a big swing on the outside was Ava Van Camp Ava Van Camp 5'6" | DS/L Kimberly | 2025 State WI . She was able to hit the ball square and create plenty of scoring opportunities for her team. Her hops speak for themselves where she is a high flyer.
