Let’s revisit last year’s Show Me memories. Premier Nebraska 15 Gold scratched and clawed its way to an elusive Open bid, ending a long stretch of close calls and near-misses. The team has changed somewhat since joining the 16s ranks, but that old narrative is back. The Show Me Qualifier was once again a site of triumph and glory for this Premier Nebraska squad.
Premier Nebraska 16 Gold battled to a GJNC bid and a second-place finish in the wild, winding road that was the 16 Open field. Time to relive the madness as we add another big name to the Nebraska Bid Tracker.
Forging Ahead
16 Gold likely had a little extra motivation heading into last weekend’s Show Me Qualifier. The team had just notched a fourth-place finish at the Northern Lights Qualifier–one spot short of an Open bid. Resilience would be tested in Kansas City.
Fortunately, Premier Nebraska channeled that motivation well in early pool play. Saturday began with a back-and-forth battle with Iowa Rockets that went all the way to a third set. 16 Gold pulled ahead for a 15-12 victory to start Show Me on the right track.
That opening contest featured the only Day 1 set loss for Premier Nebraska. Sweeps over CTV and KC Power sent 16 Gold into the next round with its high seeding intact.
Sunday’s slate had a nice geographical medley with Pohaku, Academy, and Houston Juniors landing in Premier Nebraska’s group. 16 Gold quickly dispatched Academy before getting into another one of those three-set slugfests with Houston Juniors. This contest delivered drama as Premier Nebraska earned a 15-13 win to expand its win streak to five.
Round 2’s finale was a matchup between 2-0 teams in the pool: Premier Nebraska and Pohaku. A matchup for undefeated teams meant that both teams were effectively locked into Monday’s Gold pools. Pohaku handed Premier Nebraska its first loss of the event, but 16 Gold was still on track for the ultimate goal.
On to Monday. 16 Open’s final round featured a unique format with a lot of contingencies in play. The division featured four Gold pools with three teams each. First-place finishers in each pool would be funneled into the semifinal round to compete for a championship. This group also had a handful of previously qualified teams with the possibility of an extra bid tournament with multiple trickle-down teams.
It’s a lot to take in, but winning tends to clear up confusion. Premier 16 Gold did just that. An emphatic 2-0 win over MJVA put 16 Gold one match away from the final bracket. However, Premier would deal with a quick turnaround and immediately face Mizuno Long Beach, a previously qualified team from the SoCal region. This might account for a slow start as Long Beach claimed Set 1.
But we have to return to our “resilience” theme. Premier Nebraska battled back to force a third set and eventually won its third tiebreaker set of the weekend. A semifinal spot was assured, but this wasn’t the only ripple effect of winning the pool.
Boiler Jrs 161E Gold, one of 16 Open’s previously qualified teams at Show Me, won its final pool to nab one of the other spots in the final four. With three bids available, all other pool winners were guaranteed a GJNC spot. Premier 16 Gold had done it again at Show Me.
Why stop there? 16 Gold kept its run going with a victory over Vital to reach the championship bout. The aforementioned Boiler Jrs team earned the Gold, but a runner-up finish was retribution for how close Premier Nebraska came at Northern Lights. Mission accomplished.
2026 Trendsetters
The Premier 16 Gold roster highlights Nebraska’s most exciting 2026 prospects. Last week’s Show Me Qualifier was a big step forward for all of them.
A couple of new additions deserve a lot of credit for last weekend’s triumph. Hayden Liebsack Hayden Liebsack 6'1" | OH Bennington | 2026 State NE and Lily Zimmerman Lily Zimmerman 5'5" | DS/L Gretna | 2026 State NE are not new to the Premier Nebraksa gym, but they made the move to 16 Gold after competing with different groups a year ago. They get better every weekend. Liebsack has been so effective at scoring on tough swings from the outside. Her meteoric rise started last fall when she posted monster numbers with Bennington on the high school stage. We can say the same of Zimmerman, whose floor defense was an instant hit at Gretna. She can don the libero jersey for 16 Gold or lock down the middle-back area as a DS. These roster shuffles are paying off.
Of course, we also have the familiar stars who have been with this team for a while. Addison West Addison West 6'1" | OH Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2026 State NE kept up her role as 16 Gold’s top terminator on the outside. Her extraordinary range is not limited to the front row, either. Out-of-system situations become prime opportunities to get West going on the pipe as an outlet hitter. This added wrinkle opens up opportunities for everyone else along the net, too.
16 Gold’s right-side hitter produced huge swings to give the team pin-to-pin attacking strength. Avery White Avery White 5'8" | RS Omaha Skutt Catholic | 2026 State NE is entrenched at the right-side hitter spot regardless of which lineup 16 Gold deploys. She’s a multi-year state champion at Skutt Catholic and brings all that high-level experience to the club stage. White gets off the floor quickly and can chisel around well-formed blocks, giving 16 Gold an in-system rocket behind the setter.
Premier Nebraska often runs a 6-2, and the other right-side hitter spot is a fascinating wild card. Sometimes, Liebsack slots into this role. We’ve also seen multi-talented pin hitter Madeline Lamb Madeline Lamb 6'0" | OH Omaha Westside | 2026 State NE dominate at opposite. The Show Me Qualifier offered examples of Liebsack and Lamb exchanging pin positions with incredible fluidity and consistency. Positional depth creates lineup flexibility.
It also helps to have a pair of talented setters who can run the show well. Hayden Booth Hayden Booth 5'9" | S Elkhorn North | 2026 State NE is no stranger to this task and is constantly improving her connection with 16 Gold’s hitters. Across the rotation is Ella Eymann Ella Eymann 5'7" | S Papillion-La Vista South | 2026 State NE , who brings ample experience as a defensive specialist in addition to setting the offense. Floor defense is a major strength for Booth and Eymann, cementing the 6-2 as a natural choice for 16 Gold.
We also can’t mention defense without bringing up Kami Dyrstad Kami Dyrstad 5'6" | DS/L Papillion-La Vista South | 2026 State NE , whose experience on prominent stages rivals anyone in Nebraska’s Class of 2026. This showstopping libero brings a ton of on-court energy to go along with all the skills you’d expect from a championship-winning libero. Dyrstad’s reign on the prep stage is only just getting started, and she remains one of the best in the Great Plains field.
Finally, the middle blockers. This is another three-headed monster with different skill sets across the board. Harlow Miller, who represents Iowa on the prep side, has emerged as one of 16 Gold’s best blockers with her tremendous physicality. Columbus native Paighton Erb Paighton Erb 6'0" | MB Columbus | 2026 State NE is explosive on the slide, allowing Premier to deploy crossing patterns in its three-hitter rotations. Don’t forget about Siena Sumner Siena Sumner 5'11" | MB Elkhorn South | 2026 State NE , who is nearly unstoppable off of two feet and just posted a dominant sophomore campaign with Elkhorn South. These elements combine to give Premier 16 Gold a team that can run for a national title.
Those plans were locked in at Show Me for a second consecutive year.
