Class of 2027 State Rankings Players to Know: Setters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Prep Dig Texas State Rankings were updated last month in a moment that was long expected for volleyball prospects in the Lone Star State.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>More than moving players up and down in a list, the rankings update offers us an opportunity to paint a more realistic picture of the current scenario in Texas and highlight the prospects who experienced significant development over the last few months.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The process of updating the rankings also gives us, Prep Dig scouts, the perfect excuse to learn more and more about the players, be it by attending matches or tournaments in person or researching online, and now with the list released, it's time we share some of our findings.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Over the next few weeks, I'll go over the rankings, highlighting some players in each class. She has everything coaches want in a setter as she's technically sound, extremely intelligent and tremendously athletic. Garcia is excellent at remaining consistent with her locations and is not easy to read, which contributes to the offensive success of her teams. She's a constant threat with setter dumps and uses her length to make an impact at the net with her blocking, but is agile and determined to make defensive plays too. A six-footer, she's very athletic and is one of those setters who are definitely not a liability at the net with her size and her ability to make pressure with her blocking. Welker-Brown is a skilled playmaker too as she makes excellent decisions with her distribution and comes through with her precision time and time again. Her club team is privileged to have another stellar setter in [player_tooltip player_id='534305' first='Amelia' last='Albright'] (#6 overall) and they use their combo to keep their offense going at all times. Butler's size is the first thing that stands out in her game but after a few minutes of watching her it's easy to tell how quick she is on the court and how smooth her game is. Her all-around game is probably her main asset on the court as Jones is capable of getting the job done in several different areas of the game. She's very reliable and clean as a setter, being able to keep the team in a good rhythm with her consistent play. She has great setting hands and likes to keep all of her hitters involved, but is excellent at understanding what the match is asking for and incorporating it into her distribution. Mullican is very dynamic and plays with a high energy level on both sides of the ball.
