AAU Nationals' 15 Open Highlights: Day 1

The start of the 15s Division here at AAU Nationals.</p>   <p>The 15 Open kicked off with a bang today. A lot of big players coming to shine and some of the lesser known names came to make a statement for themselves. There were some dominant performances today from both individual to the team level.</p>   <p>Let's take a look at the highlights from Day 1 of the 15 Open at AAU Nationals.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='494521' first='Shania' last='Rhamy'] - Munciana</h2>   <p>This is a really strong versatile outside hitter. Rhamey Has all the shots and moves herself around the court for even more opportunities. As a six rotation player, she poses as a constant threat for Munciana. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hannah Herrick - Sports Performance</h2>   <p>Whether they're in system or out of system, this is Sport Performance's go-to attacker. Herrick sees the block extremely well and has no problem tooling for a point. Her range of off speed to power shots are impressive.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='442982' first='Grace' last='Goodyke'] - FaR Out</h2>   <p>This team cannot get enough of Goodyke and she came to play today. At the net or in via the back row, Goodyke is always good for the big swing and quick point. This is a first watch since the 2023 State Championships in Michigan, Goodyke has cultivated herself into a nationally respected player at this point.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='467901' first='Mallory' last='Wandel'] - MVA</h2>   <p>With one of the loudest pops on the ball I may have heard all day, Wandel came to prove a point. As the source of the majority of MVA's point scoring, Wandel wears the badge with honor. Blow after blow, this player never shies away from going down swinging.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='454368' first='Lexa' last='Pierson'] - L2</h2>   <p>Another player that knows what it takes to carry a team, [player_tooltip player_id='454368' first='Lexa' last='Pierson'] is a player that came up clutch time and time again for L2. A mighty jumper with a lot of pace behind her ball, Pierson can go toe-to-toe with the best of them. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='454366' first='Jordyn' last='Jones'] - Michigan Elite</h2>   <p>When its go time, you know who to call on here. Jones may be small, but she packs a MIGHTY punch. This player was instrumental in Elite's huge upset win over Winter Park today, leaving them with a 3-0 record. Jones was good for 12 kills in the match.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='442971' first='Brenna' last='Mirovsky'] - Michigan Elite</h2>   <p>Running the offense, playing defense, or even swinging like a seasoned pin. Mirovsky wore the utility jersey today with a lot of pride and came up clutch for her team time and time again.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Ella Gravlee - Tribe</h2>   <p>When this player goes up for a swing, you just got to know whoever is on the receiving end is going to feel a sting if they get a touch on the ball. Gravlee hits with such power and range, she can get it done on either pin to an electrifying rate. </p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='443848' first='Carsyn' last='Comer'] - Munciana</h2>   <p>She's one of most fine tuned blockers in the field. Comer's net defense is intense, and she can bring down the hammer with the best. For a middle blocker, she sees the court well for off speed opportunities on top of her bombing kills.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sadie Hancox - Triangle</h2>   <p>If this player can get the ball at a healthy rate, Triangle is going to have no problems in the match. And that was evident today. Hancox not only brings a lot of efficiency as an attacker, but she is touching a lot of balls off of her block as well.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='535518' first='Natasha' last='Casey'] - OTVA O</h2>   <p>The big lefty bomber, Casey was doing the most for her squad today. With a good height advantage on a lot of her peers, Casey also brings a lot of physicality at the net and in the back court. Her top spin serve is also one of the nastiest in the gym. Not only can she bring the pace, but she brings a nice side cut that moves the ball hard.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[player_tooltip player_id='512231' first='Sophia' last='Azevedo'] - Tribe </h2>   <p>Running an extremely well-balanced offense throughout the day, Azevedo was doing a lot of great things for Tribe. For her size, one of the bigger setters in the division, she moves quite well around the court and offers up a lot of different looks.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Madison Simmons - Triangle</h2>   <p>If there is one thing to keep an eye for when watching a Triangle team, it is their top notch liberos. Simmons is one of those extremely well-crafted defenders. She moves so efficiently around the court and covers a huge range of ground.</p>
