Nevada’s 2028 Freshman Watchlist Expands with New Names

<p>The class of 2028 is up next and heading into their freshman year of high school volleyball. I'm getting to know more 2028s in all positions and the watchlist is steadily growing. She is already standing at 5'9” going into freshman year and works just as hard on and off the court. Boasting a 4.0 GPA and constantly getting in extra strength and conditioning reps show how dedicated and determined this young athlete is to both her education and the sport she loves. She is a strong, go-to hitter on both front and back row, while also managing to make strategic decisions like short tips or off-speed hits when there is a strong block up. In addition, she is one of the top servers in her class, racks up some blocks and plays on back row. She has developed some great skills in multiple areas of volleyball and one of the best six rotation players in her class. Looking forward to catching her in more action next season. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Dru is an outstanding libero to watch in the class of 2028. She covers the court exceptionally well, making great passes from difficult angles. Her high energy and love for the libero position are evident. During club season, she excelled as the team's best passer and took charge of the back row during serve receive. Dru's quick first step allows her to handle float serves that drop or move unpredictably with ease. She's fearless on the court and has relentless hustle, bettering the ball each time she touches it. I expect Dunlap to continue dominating in the libero (or defensive specialist) position as she heads into her first year of high school. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8F-WgGSZKG/?igsh=ZXBlMmxvOWxtdWt1 </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Nia is up next on the short list of six rotation players in her class. In the front row, she is a smart hitter who capitalizes on powerful attacks and strategic tips into the gaps in the opponents' defense. She hits both outside and opposite, making her a versatile “pin hitter.” When she rotates to the back row, she begins with a strong serve that often results in aces. Her hustle and agility in the back row are evident as she retrieves balls by any means necessary. The future is bright for this young athlete and she should earn a lot of court time during her freshman year. </p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/reel/C70IM84vM6Q/?igsh=M3I4cDl5MjV6cmdp </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Madison may very well be one of, if not “the” best middle blocker in her class thus far. She is electrifying in the middle and is already displaying elite skills as she enters her freshman year. Madison can place the ball anywhere on the court, from deep cross-court shots to sharp hits along the ten-foot line. Her energy remains high and contagious throughout matches, especially after big hits or blocks made by herself or teammates. In addition to her impressive hitting and blocking abilities, she has a high volleyball IQ with multiple attack options in her repertoire. Madison was crucial to her club team's success this season, helping them earn a National bid. It wouldn't be surprising to see her invited to elite camps like UA Next or USAV NTDP in the coming year. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Ellee is already establishing herself as a top libero in her class with her recent success and impressive play during club season. She's a relentless hustler with that innate libero energy that can't be taught. Ellee understands her role, doing everything possible to get a hand on the ball and keep her team in play during tough moments. Her elite reading skills allow her to be at the right place at the right time more often than not. No ball is too far or too difficult for her to reach. You can rely on Ford to better the ball when out of system. Overall, Ellee excels in multiple defensive area, out-of-system setting, controls one-arm passes well, has a strong float serve, and provides excellent coverage. She has mastered her passing angles and possesses exceptional reading skills, allowing her to make quick, smart decisions that ensure precise passes to her setter. Her contributions have been vital to her team's success, consistently helping them execute successful plays. Claire played a crucial role in her team's impressive finishes during the club season, including winning first place at the 2024 Emperor's Cup and securing a bid to Nationals in the 14 Patriot division. The future looks incredibly bright for Claire, and it will be exciting to see how she continues to grow as a player throughout her high school career. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Kendall stands out as one of the strongest blockers and toughest servers in her class. Offensively, she possesses a powerful and quick swing that destroys the deep corners on the opponent's side. Her slide attack is very impressive and she transitions off the net quickly, ready to hit anything. Defensively, Kendall is already a blocking machine, proving to be a true “middle blocker”. As Kendall continues to develop and refine her skills, her versatility and elite capabilities in multiple areas of the game will undoubtedly give her a significant advantage over other recruits in her position. Her ability to attack effectively from any position on the front row will be a valuable asset as she transitions to high school, where she may also be called upon to play outside or opposite hitter. Standing tall at 5'11” as she enters her freshman year, Jaycie is set to make a significant impact on her school team, leveraging the skills and experience she has gained in club play. The two sport athlete showcases athleticism and agility when digging tough balls or even quickly transitioning to left back immediately after serving. She exhibits great patience, carefully reading the set to ensure she gets the best angle and approach. This allows her to effectively hit over or around blocks and exploit the deep holes in the opponents' defense. Claire already possesses excellent court vision, a knack for finding gaps in the defense, and strong blocking skills. These attributes will make her a highly sought-after recruit in the near future. Recently, Claire played a pivotal role in her team's impressive 6-0 finish at the SCVA Championships last month.
