USAV GJNC Preview: 2027 Top Setters

The USAV Girls Junior National Championships are here, taking place from July 3rd through the 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada. Top teams from across the country are currently preparing to compete in hopes of representing their club and region well. Many teams from the CEVA Region were awarded bids and are eager to show the country what volleyball from the Pacific Northwest looks like!   Leading up to the tournament, PrepDig Oregon will highlight players to watch from each of the CEVA teams that received bids.    Up now, the top setters from the class of 2027 in attendance!    Friesen is a major contributor as both a setter and right side for NPJ Salem 15-1 National, and she will be key as her team competes in the 15 American division at USAV Nationals. Friesen has strong hands and can easily push the ball from pin-to-pin, and she attacks the ball powerfully. Friesen also has such an impressive court presence, bringing confidence and skill to the game and leading her team well.     Cross is a very solid setter for NPJ Salem 15-1 National and will take on that role when the team competes in the 15 American division at USAV Nationals. Making smart setting decisions, Cross showcases a soft touch on the ball, consistent jump sets, and great setting placement. From the baseline, Cross also has a strong jump float serve.     Jacoby is a rostered setter and rightside for Aspire NW 16-1 Empire, and she will be a major player as her team plays in the 16 Freedom division at USAV Nationals. Jacoby is a versatile and dynamic player, effective both when setting and attacking. She has great court vision and is an offensive setter, often making point-scoring plays on two. Jacoby also puts up a solid block from the right side.     Wilson is one of the talented setters for Athena 15-1 Gold and she will be used in that role as her team plays in the 15 Freedom division at USAV Nationals. Wilson runs a fast-paced offense and places her sets with precision. She also connects effectively with each of her hitters and makes smart setting decisions, feeding her big hitters at the right time to score.     Rohman is a key component of the Webfoot 16-1 Elite team and will be instrumental as her team competes in the 16 Patriot division at USAV Nationals. The leftie setter and rightside is effective from anywhere on the court, both leading her offense well and scoring big points for her team when attacking. Rohman has great hands and can push the ball from across the court, and she connects well with her middles.     Alkire is a setter for Webfoot 16-1 Elite and will be an asset as her team competes in the 16 Patriot division at USAV Nationals. Alkire is a steady defensive player from right back, using quick reactions to keep the ball in play. She also places the ball well when setting. And, from the baseline, Alkire brings a tough standing float serve.     Rajan is one of the rostered setters for OJVA 15-1 Gold and her skill will be put to use as the team competes in the 15 National division at USAV Nationals. Standing at 6'1”, Rajan puts up a tough and effective block when setting from the front row. With a soft touch on the ball and quick footwork, Rajan is able to jump set consistently. She also makes great plays on two into open court.     Becker is a strong piece of the Aspire NW 15-1 Empire lineup and will take on a big role leading her team as they compete in the 15 Liberty division at USAV Nationals. Becker has great hands and puts the ball in excellent locations for her attackers. Becker played with the Aspire NW 18-1 Empire team at Nationals in April, so she brings high level experience to the court. She is also a fiery, passionate player.     Erickson is a rostered setter for Aspire NW 15-1 Empire, and her talents will be put to use as her team plays in the 15 Liberty division at USAV Nationals. Erickson is stellar defensively from the right back, using controlled and technical movements to make great digs. She has strong hands and can push the ball from pin-to-pin with ease.
