California High School Report Vol 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high school season is now upon us and we are eager to cover all of the wonderful teams and players who have their eye set on the ultimate prize at the end of the season. California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight every minute of this season's matches.  Let's meet a few of the teams and players who are poised for a solid run this season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Mater Dei Monarchs</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Will anyone be able to dethrone the defending champs this year?  They are the consensus number one nationally ranked high school volleyball team by almost every publication that covers our sport.  Every word written about them is warranted due to their awesome returning roster.  The golden arm of [player_tooltip player_id='228678' first='Layli' last='Ostovar'] will be very hard to stop as she can score from any location at any given time.  She has some stellar setter help in Junior Sam Capinpin and senior [player_tooltip player_id='228680' first='Ayva' last='Ostovar'].  They are dishing the ball well to all of the wonderful hitters this squad has.  Speaking of those hitters, [player_tooltip player_id='489519' first='Presley' last='Kiffin'] and [player_tooltip player_id='538063' first='Preslie' last='Saunders'] have been phenomenal at the beginning of this season as they have been scoring well from the pins.  Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='391082' first='Addison' last='Coady'] and [player_tooltip player_id='772595' first='Kaia' last='Ciszewski'] are also adding some firepower to the amazing arsenal.  There are some young talented ballers who will also fuel this juggernaut throughout the season.  Sophomore middle [player_tooltip player_id='455792' first='Emma' last='Kingston'] is back and better than ever.  Last year she was dominant and she only got stronger and more experienced during the club season.  Freshman opposite [player_tooltip player_id='524283' first='Abby' last='Moffett'] is one player who looks to be a solid contributor to this team's success.  So far this season, she has been unstoppable and will be a great addition to this wonderful team who lost a lot of senior leadership that filled the stat book last season.  The back row is stacked with senior libero Sydney Raszewski, [player_tooltip player_id='461618' first='Ava' last='Akoubian'], and [player_tooltip player_id='228682' first='Kayla' last='Ostovar'].  They are as good of a combo as any team in the state when it comes to ball control.  We are expecting great things from this squad and will be following their journey closely to see if they can live up to the hype once again. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Mira Costa Mustangs</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When you have a setting duo of [player_tooltip player_id='311353' first='Reese' last='Stringer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='391092' first='Milly' last='McGee'] dishing the rock, you have arguably the best 1-2 setting punch of any roster in the nation.&nbsp; These young ladies are absolutely elite and can back it up with any skill on the hardwood that you need from them.&nbsp; They are amazing at delivering the ball to all hitters and moving it around to balance out the attack and keep the defense guessing.&nbsp; Oh yeah, I forgot to add that they have an outside hitter by the name of [player_tooltip player_id='391077' first='Audrey' last='Flanagan'] to end the rally with.&nbsp; She is a lethal scoring threat who any opponent needs to track where she is in the serve-receive rotation.&nbsp; She is guaranteed to be in the stat leaderboard for the entire season.&nbsp; Not to mention that they have [player_tooltip player_id='189560' first='Taylor' last='Deckert'] as a back row floor general for them.&nbsp; Her ball control and defense are a huge reason why their offense can run in system at all times.&nbsp; This team has very few holes and will be a problem for any team that is in their way.&nbsp; Junior outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='772611' first='Cayenne' last='Ceman'] can also throttle the ball from both pins at will.&nbsp; Her offense is another big reason why any opponent can never catch a break from an onslaught of hard driven balls coming from everywhere.&nbsp; Last season this team went 39-4 overall and had a solid run in the CIF State Championship playoffs.&nbsp; They are poised for another great run as they look to be one of the teams to beat this season.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite teams and athletes.&nbsp;
