“In preparation for Triple Crown my team and I are going to rely on our previous training and great coaching from our coaches Melissa, Fiapo, and Chloe. Our coaches have been pushing us to be our best on and off the court from weight lifting and journaling to making sure we do all of the little things in practice. At this point, especially in 18s, it is crucial which team is the most committed to each other and their goals, and those teams will land on top. Before triple crown we are going to Salt Lake City to try and qualify for 18 Open, which will give us an opportunity to play teams other than SoCal and be at a travel tournament before Kansas City. For us, after winning the 17 Open National Championship last season, we will have a target on our back, so it will important for us to focus on our goals this year and start with blank slate. Taylor Deckert was an automatic force on defense. Watching her play, it almost felt like there was a magnetic attraction between the ball and her platform. She scooped up every ball with grace, and her uncanny ability to track the ball on defense left me in wonderment. Taylor is a vital link on the team, delivering the ball to Charlie and proving why opponents should think twice before serving her.
