Texas HS: Jordan vs. Paetow

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>District play is quickly progressing in the high school volleyball season in the state of Texas as in just two months from now we'll know the teams that will earn the right to compete at the State Tournament, where the champions will be crowned.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We, at Prep Dig, are excited to cover another season here in Texas and will try to be in as many matches as possible over the next two months to follow the journeys of the many rising stars in our state, providing coverage that includes articles, photos and social media highlights.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Friday, September 27, we were in Katy, following some District 19 action between the Jordan Warriors and the Paetow Panthers. Playing at home, Jordan had a solid performance from start to finish to get a sweep (25-12, 25-22, 25-20) over a hard-fighting Paetow team and improve to 16-15 in the season and 5-3 in district play. Ribakovs split her time between setting and hitting and was excellent in both roles. As a playmaker, she did a very good job with her ball distribution and remained precise during the entire match. Ribakovs was one of the team's main scoring options and was extremely productive, using her length and power to score, but also finding nice angles with her skilled left hand and making very few errors. Osague displayed some good things on the court, but perhaps the most impressive of all of it was her stability and consistency. A player with remarkable physical tools, she used them extremely well offensively, but was very grounded with her decision-making, finding ways to beat blockers and making very few errors. Nicholas displayed great chemistry with defensive specialist Jenilee Ngo as the two covered most of the court in serve-receive, freeing up the team's outside hitters to focus on scoring. She was also very active on the backcourt and was always well-positioned, making some nice digs and being the first to get to free balls. The senior right side played just the three front row rotations, but made a major impact on the team's play, especially on the offensive side of the game. Very long and powerful, O'Shay was very effective with her swings, finding ways to beat the blockers, and displayed great variation, hitting different sets - she was unstoppable hitting the slide. Scranton was targeted by Jordan's servers at the start of the match, but did a good job with her passing and also stood out on the backcourt with some impressive digs. She was even more impressive at the net, being set quite often at the pin and the middle back position and scoring at a good rate, with few errors. Easterbrook combined well with libero Mia Deleon as the two did a solid job in serve-receive. The defensive specialist also displayed great ball control and performed some impressive digs. Bush returned to her original middle position on set two and became much more of a factor in the match, appearing well on both sides of the ball and helping her team pose more of a challenge to Jordan. She was very solid offensively, making contact with the ball at a high point and swinging hard on some occasions.
