Why not add a Part 3?

We recently listed several outgoing seniors we were thankful to cover over the years—enough athletes to make Part 1 and Part 2. But while we're in the spirit of giving thanks to Nebraska's seasoned veterans, let's make this series a trilogy.

Traudt was already a phenomenal player before she suited up for her final season at Grand Island Senior High. She helped [program_tooltip program_id='428743' first='VCNebraska' last=''] win Open bids, secured a D1 commitment to UNLV, and was an extraordinary representative for central Nebraska athletes. However, Traudt exhibited a new level of dominance in her final year with the Islanders. She compiled nearly six kills per set and accompanied this incredible volume with a 0.431 hitting percentage. Traudt and GISH reached the Class A semifinals to lock in a new milestone for the school, and we have to salute this six-rotation star for an unparalleled junior career.

Link has seen prep volleyball's biggest stages. She hoisted multiple state championship trophies with Omaha Skutt Catholic and was a physical anchor for the SkyHawk frontcourt. This hard-hitting middle blocker also progressed as an attacker by putting up a 0.343 hitting percentage in her final season. Link's final club campaign brought her to [program_tooltip program_id='428717' first='Nebraska' last='ONE'] 17 Synergy, where she bolstered the team's net defense and helped lock up an Open bid. These accomplishments elevate Link's greatness among her senior peers.

The Brueggemann sisters were as advertised at this year's state tournament. Ella's final numbers on the 2024 campaign are something to behold: 4.6 kills per set on a 0.337 clip. She also helped out in the ball control phase with three and a half assists per set. This do-it-all mentality put Thayer Central on the cusp of a massive upset in the Class C2 finale against three-time defending champion Lincoln Lutheran. Brueggemann put Thayer Central on the map, giving the program a lot to build upon for 2025.

Rennerfeldt's absence will feel strange. After all, she's been leading Oakland-Craig's offense since the dawn of her prep career and has been a permanent fixture at the state tournament. The journey started with the 2021 Class C2 title, giving the Knights their first volleyball title in school history. Rennerfeldt piloted that effort with the poise and maturity beyond her years. By the end of Rennerfeldt's reign, she racked up an astonishing 4,175 assists and averaged 10.5 helpers per set for her entire career. That's an irreplaceable legacy.

Feeney was one of our favorite small-town 2025s to follow, particularly at the setter position. She earned state tournament experience as an underclassman and was never deterred by the bright lights of Pinnacle Bank Arena. This savvy setter also carried the [program_tooltip program_id='428732' first='South' last='Central Volleyball Club'] banner and had several breakout performances on the regional stage. Feeney finished her prep career by rewriting Adams Central's record books with nearly 2,800 assists.

We've been following Ashby's development for a while. She didn't take long to capture our attention when she represented Nebraska Juniors on the club stage. Ashby was also a stat-stuffing force in her early days as the libero for Aurora High School. Her career took another turn when she spent her final prep season at Grand Island Senior High and helped the Islanders clinch their second straight Class A tournament appearance. That high-profile accomplishment is the product of Ashby's tireless work to improve her backcourt craft, and we'll miss seeing her around the Nebraska circuit.

Covalt's consistent excellence helped bring Seward to the top tier of an ultra-competitive Class B field. As a sophomore, she seized a full-time libero role and never relinquished her status as the team's defensive leader. Covalt's 4.8 digs per set this season punctuated her third consecutive season of posting a mark above four. We're eager to see this elite defender take her talents to Northwestern College at the next level.
