The 6-1 Patton will mainly hit from the outside on this team. Two solid freshmen Milford hitters in middle blocker [player_tooltip player_id='582228' first='Lauren' last='Williams'] and outside hitter [player_tooltip player_id='661888' first='Baechle' last='Mathes'] will join her and Ross freshman [player_tooltip player_id='582222' first='Mya' last='Bosse'] will set them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Three defensive specialists grace this roster in Seton's Allison MacPherson, [player_tooltip player_id='582218' first='Maggie' last='Timmerman'] and St. Ursula's [player_tooltip player_id='582221' first='Kelsey' last='Bareswilt']. Mount Notre Dame's Aubrey McDaniel will try to make an impact at middle blocker with Seton's [player_tooltip player_id='582220' first='Lilly' last='Mollner'] and St. Ursula's [player_tooltip player_id='510903' first='Lowe' last='Long'] giving the team depth at outside hitter. Mollner will also play some defensive specialist.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>15 White</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Some of these players saw limited varsity action as freshmen. Harrison outside hitter Regan Oaks made the biggest impact.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The defensive specialists will be St. Ursula's Finley Santoro, Seton's Samantha Schenke and Kings freshman Mallory Kirkendall and St. Ursula's Lakyn Shawger will be the setter. St. Ursula's Abigail Hodapp will set and hit from the outside. A pair of Seton teammates Harlowe Allen and Charlotte Holm along with Roger Bacon's Brenna Huber will play both middle blocker and outside hitter. Mason freshman Preslie Evans and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy's Sloan Swartz give the team depth from the outside.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Blue and White teams open the season in the Mideast Power League in Louisville Jan. 4 and 5.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>15 Gray</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This team comprises of nine players. Milford's Anna Watson and CHCA's Ava Hartje are the defensive specialists with Milford's Sydney Mandel playing defensive specialist and setter. Badin's Gwendalyn Culley is the other setter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The roster is made of five hitters. Patton uses her size to go up and smack down balls from high angles at the pins and in the middle. Patton also does a good job putting down overpassed balls. Patton also has a low line drive serve. She also did some setting for the Cougars this past fall. Mathes does a great job reading defenses and knowing where to put balls from the pins. She can hit them to the front and back rows, even going off blockers when needed. Williams takes shot sets and puts them down in the middle and the pins. Williams can put balls off blockers when needed. Williams also has excellent timing on her blocks. Bosse does a great job setting hitters up for success and makes a lot of things happen spiking the ball. She can hit to different parts of the court and throws defenses off shoving balls to the opposite sideline. Bosse lines up her arms well for nice first contacts and can score a lot of points on tough serves. Oaks can smack balls from the front row and back row. Oaks brings the Wildcats versatility with crisp first passes.
