Pins to Ponder at the DMV Prep Dig 250 Expo

These are some of our pins who made an impression at the DMV Prep Dig 250 Expo. They may not have won a top performer award, but their play shows a lot of promise. Only a sophomore she contributed to the success Chantilly had in their season last year. She finished third on the team in kills. That earned her a spot on the Concorde All District second team.   With a shortage of middles to cover five courts she even got the opportunity to play a little middle at the Expo. With a little more experience, she will gain more consistency in her game. She carries the athleticism, which provides her with the hops to bury the ball when the timing is right.   Skyler will play for Virginia Juniors this club season. Definitely a player to put on your radar.     While she may be a bit undersized at 5'7" do not underestimate her ability to provide offense. She can fly high over the net, putting some extra mustard on the ball. In the games I watched for Independence she plays right side but for [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'] she plays left side. Independence actually used her a little bit as a setter her frosh year.   Kaelyn will play for [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'] this year. She plays six rotations for them providing offense with her bic attacks.     At 5'10" Olivia has some good height for an outside. She impressed when she played for Yorktown. At the August frosh showcase she stood out for her hard driven spikes. An athletic player who can only improve as she gains experience.   Olivia will play for Virginia Elite this year. While she is not yet ranked among our class of 2028 that will change when rankings are updated in January. She has the chance to be an impact player.     The DMV Prep Dig 250 Expo was my first opportunity to see Lacey play. That number 44 caught my attention a couple times as she flew high over the net to take a swing at the ball. She brings a fast arm swing that generates good velocity. She also put up a good block on the outside despite her listed 5'8" height.   Lacey certainly is not afraid to take a hard swing at the ball. The more experience she gets the more consistency the swing will produce. Lacey will be playing for [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'].     At 6'0" she provides an imposing presence on the court. She currently ranks number 76 in our class of 2027 rankings. In the short window that I watched her she struggled a bit, but the potential is there to be an imposing presence.   Last year Gainesville made it to the Regionals, where they lost in the first round to Colgan. Cat will play for the [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] second team this season.     Another player I got to see for the first time at the DMV Prep Dig 250 Expo. When she swings she hits the ball hard. Her profile lists her as a right side/middle blocker. At 5'11" she carries some height to play both. Only a frosh so there is still room to sprout.   Last year she played on the [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] 14 team that qualified for Junior Nationals in the Freedom Division. This year she will be returning to the same group of girls at the 15 age group.    Below are some additional liberos to mention. Erica Twarling covered a number of them. There are three that I thought were worth mentioning.    Definitely a quality libero who knows how to play her position. I watched her play at the National Harbor and the Junior Nationals. While she is smooth at making the routine plays, she also has it in her to make the truly spectacular plays as well. Victoria was one of our biggest risers in our class of 2027 moving from number 94 to 54.   Looking forward to watching her again this season as she plays for Maryland Juniors. It will be a vastly different team than the one they had last year, with a left side, middle and setter moving to [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''].     [player_tooltip player_id='731633' first='Catherine' last='Martinez'] was the lone class of 2025 player to attend the Prep Dig 250 Expo. She plays a solid back row. It is always tough for a libero to stand out. My first exposure to her occurred at the August showcase. She played well but since she will also be in Baltimore I'll post more about her after that event.   She earned a spot on our class of 2025 rankings at 151 after the August Prep Dig showcase. As often happens with players who list Maryland as their state in their profile she dropped out of the rankings. That will have to be corrected.   Catherine will play for Limitless Volleyball Club this year.     Her libero play has improved quite a bit since she played for me at 13. She still has some difficulty with receiving serve against some of the stronger serves but she will always give effort and won't let a shank or two lesson her drive.   It would be difficult for you to find a more enthusiastic player on the court. You also won't have any problem with her hustle. Talking and communicating is a given. A fun player to watch play her position on the court.   Ella will play for [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'].
