2025 Club Team Spotlights: Iowa Impact 16-1 Elite

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Received my first in-person scout of Iowa Impact a few weeks ago in the MLK at Bluhawk tournament in Overland Park, Kan. The first team I watched was 16-1 Elite against eventual champion of the 17s Division, Iowa United 16-1 Elite. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Impact took the champs to three sets and provided them one of their toughest competitions of the weekend. Impact finished the event at 2-3, but won five of 11 sets it played and showed it wasn't far from better outcomes. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Potential is the operative word with Impact 16-1 Elite. It's a collection of talent that must gel as a team to reach its ceiling. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Setter [player_tooltip player_id='443125' first='Liv' last='Davis'] keeps the operation running on time. The sophomore played a key role in Waukee's march to the state tournament in the Fall. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Davis stands out most for her ability to set up teammates. However, she's a sneaky good defender in the front and back rows, shows excellent timing in dumping into donuts in the defense and can put it down with a swing.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='443086' first='Brynn' last='Cibula'] is steady through six rotations after ranking second on Valley last season with 167 kills and third in digs (216). She's technically sound at multiple positions and shows quick-twitch athleticism. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>WInterset's [player_tooltip player_id='745362' first='Dottie' last='Reed'] provides a presence in the middle of the net. Her agility and explosion explain how she was among the Huskies' leaders in kills and blocks as a sophomore in the Fall. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='490004' first='Girona' last='Fengler'], [player_tooltip player_id='730385' first='Allison' last='Ricke'], [player_tooltip player_id='493608' first='Bailey' last='Snyder'] and [player_tooltip player_id='493605' first='Kenlie' last='Erickson'] are well-rounded, versatile volleyball players capable of fueling the squad in multiple areas. Fengler and Snyder swing well from the outside pin, while Erickson and Ricke can crank out velocity from the opposite side. They all hold up well in the back row.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='758781' first='Myla' last='Brown'] is an intriguing middle hitter that pairs nicely with Reed. Brown shares Reed's traits of being agile athletic and explosive. [player_tooltip player_id='493615' first='Alexis' last='Theis'], and [player_tooltip player_id='758787' first='Katelyn' last='Mescher'] stand out in the back row.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!--
