This weekend's 14U Iowa Regional Qualifier in West Des Moines and Grimes shapes up to be a competitive event. Clubs from the state will be chasing bids to this summer's USAV National Tournament in Dallas. A spot in each of the National, American and Freedom Divisions are up for grabs.

Iowa could end up having more qualifiers than most years in 14U. The state's top team, United, will not be competing this weekend after securing an Open bid at last week's Northern Lights Qualifier. Six Pack has a USA bid it picked up at NLQ.

SELECT

Roster: Kerby Germann, Sarah Mitton, Jaeci Leffel, [player_tooltip player_id='741877' first='Tenley' last='Cewe'], [player_tooltip player_id='523167' first='Natalie' last=''] DePoorter, Dillynn Moore, Ruby Stevens, Taylor Camarena, Tatum Comer.

Skinny: I watched this squad play for a title against CIA at the Quad Cities Showdown in early January. Dillynn Moore, Jaeci Leffel, [player_tooltip player_id='741877' first='Tenley' last='Cewe'] and [player_tooltip player_id='523167' first='Natalie' last=''] DePoorter stood out during that in-person scouting opportunity. It's enjoyed a successful season leading up to this event and should be competing for a championship in Sunday's gold bracket.

SIX PACK

Roster: Kate Limbaugh, Quinn Sweeney, [player_tooltip player_id='785394' first='Hannah' last='Buhman'], Isabella Sorenson, Paige Davis, Madison Burkhardt, Tenley Eicher, Anndee Magers, Espyn Decker, [player_tooltip player_id='781517' first='Hadassah' last='Smith'].

Skinny: Six Pack took second a last weekend's NLQ USA Division and looked very good in doing so despite losing Limbaugh to a leg injury on Day 2. Sweeney and Smith are a handful in the middle of the net, Davis holds up well through six rotations, Burkhardt brings a big swing to the pin, Buhman is a complete setter and Decker limits mistakes at libero.

CENTENNIAL VOLLEYBALL ASSOCIATION (CVA)

Roster: [player_tooltip player_id='523159' first='Macy' last=''] Song, Stella Heither, Alexandra Pollock, Kaiah Starr, Amelia Paulsen, Madi VanBruggen, Kendall Rinehart, Kayle Pezzetti, Kenna Sorensen, Kenlee Faber.

Skinny: This team caught my attention when it took down the host in the championship match at the Iowa Impact Tournament. CVA showed few weaknesses during the event, winning with strong play at the net and in the back row.

POWERPLEX

Roster: [player_tooltip player_id='612152' first='Ella' last='Whitver'], Ava Moench, Julia McGraw, [player_tooltip player_id='780317' first='Brooklyn' last='Walker'], Luella Craig, [player_tooltip player_id='790687' first='Hailey' last='Reinders'], Elizabeth Brunkhorst, Zoey Tessum, Sidney Bryan, Ava White, Lucy Grove.

Skinny: It will be my first time scouting Mendieta this season. Farrell looked solid at NLQ last week, so I would expect this team to put up a strong fight against the competition here.

CIA

Roster: [player_tooltip player_id='754872' first='[player_tooltip player_id='523167' first='Natalie' last='']' last='Rausch'], Chloe Degroot, Morgan Adams, Charlette Kirkpatrick, Ally Aschenbrenner, Stella Zmolek, [player_tooltip player_id='782418' first='Claire' last='Scherbring'], [player_tooltip player_id='762921' first='Taylor' last='Kriegel'], Molly Street, Brynlee Asche.

Skinny: I viewed this team live on multiple occasions this season and wrote up a scouting report with video highlights. Molly Street is playing up but you wouldn't know it watching her contribute through six rotations. Chloe Degroot and Brynlee Asche are game-changers at middle hitter, [player_tooltip player_id='754872' first='[player_tooltip player_id='523167' first='Natalie' last='']' last='Rausch'] is a powerful pin and Stella Zmolek makes a difference on the right side.

IMPACT

Roster: Abby Buenzow, Mallory Ickowitz, Braelyn Irlmeier, Eleanor Richeson, Avery Humphrey, Havanna Dolbeare, Gwendolyn Ramsay, Melah Kloberdanz, Isabella Oliver, Ashlyn Doak, Riley Lyles.

Skinny: I watched this team reach the championship match of its own tournament earlier this season. It came up short against a super CVA outfit, but shared similarities with its opponent. Impact has good players at all of its positions and is capable of having a great tournament if its players are connected.
