2027: The Stock Risers

With rankings updates come a lot of shifts in where athletes were previously ranked. There were a handful of athletes who jumped up a significant number of spots in the 2027 rankings. Below are the athletes with the most movement.      Previous rank: #7   After settling into her role as a defensive specialist/libero, Hanson has truly flourished. Previously tasked with offensive responsibilities, her move to NPJ Salem 16-1 National allowed her to fully embrace her defensive role. Without the need to attack, she has zeroed in on anchoring the backcourt with relentless energy and athleticism. Her defensive reads and dynamic range have been lights-out—she rarely lets a ball drop. Her ability to make plays on balls well outside her zone has stood out.      Previous rank: #19    Douglas has stepped into her own this club season with Aspire NW 16-1 Empire, taking on a heavy load both offensively and defensively as a six-rotation outside hitter. Previously rotating through the middle and right side, the ability to focus on her pin attacking has elevated her game. Her raw athleticism and physicality are on full display—she brings impressive hops, a fast arm swing, and smart shot selection to every match.     Previous rank: #23   McGregor has seen a sharp rise in her game—and her ranking—thanks to standout performances with Valley Catholic and NPJ Salem 16-1 National. Her improved hand strength allows her to deliver clean sets to the pins from anywhere on the court, even when off balance. She consistently runs a fast tempo and uses her court vision to set against the grain, keeping opposing defenses on their toes. Her decision-making and playmaking ability have taken her game to the next level.     Previous rank: #32   Freeman has firmly established herself as a top six-rotation outside hitter with Athena 16-1 Gold. Previously used in a DS/L role, a growth spurt and improved attacking skills changed her trajectory. She was swung up to varsity at Jesuit—Oregon's 6A State Champions—and has not looked back. Her serve receive and defensive ball control remain strengths, and she now complements them with a dynamic attacking range. At 6-feet tall with a high reach and aggressive arm swing, Freeman's ceiling continues to rise.     Previous rank: #35   Becker had a standout high school season at Portland Christian and carried that momentum into club play with Aspire NW 16-1 Empire. Her athleticism and court presence are hard to miss. Becker has made major strides in her consistency and set location, becoming a more reliable and confident playmaker. Though currently rehabbing from a torn ACL and meniscus, she remains a committed teammate, cheering from the sidelines. Once fully recovered, she'll be a setter to watch.     Previous rank: #45   Mather's game has skyrocketed over the past year, thanks to a focus on strength, athleticism, and explosiveness. Competing with NPJ Portland 16-1 National, she's become a dynamic offensive weapon. With a powerful approach, quick arm, and impressive vertical, she's dangerous from anywhere on the court. On the block, she presses hard and reads well, making her a wall against opposing hitters.     Previous rank: #50    Crepeaux has put in serious work to elevate her backrow game, and it shows in her play with NPJ Portland 16-1 National. She's calm and controlled on serve receive, demonstrating strong platform angles and consistent first contacts. On defense, her quick reactions and reading abilities stand out. Beyond her technical skills, she brings contagious energy to the court, motivating her teammates and contributing to a strong team dynamic.     Previous rank: #53   Lyman has made significant strides in her development as a setter, seeing court time running a 6-2 with NPJ Portland 16-1 National. Her technical range has expanded, and she now distributes the ball with more confidence and consistency. She does a great job feeding the pins and has shown steady ball placement under pressure. Defensively, she holds down right back, keeping plays alive and delivering quality out-of-system balls to keep the offense moving.     Previous rank: #66   Bennett has shown tremendous growth, going from a mid-level club team her freshman year to competing with Athena 16-1 Gold. The jump in competition has accelerated her development. She's adapting quickly to the higher level of play and consistently delivers clean sets, even when pushed out of position. Her ability to get the middles involved in transition and push the ball to the pins with pace is a big asset.
