One of the hardest National Qualifiers of the year is in full swing in Dallas, TX this weekend. Being held at the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in downtown Dallas, this qualifier brings the best teams from all over the nation under one roof toward the end of the season. This article series will discuss some of the players and teams that we think will have a solid shot at earning a bid for the tourney.

17 Open

The field is STACKED in this division. There are already 10 Open qualified teams that are entered into the tourney. Normally at USA Volleyball qualifiers, the bids only trickle down to sixth place, so that will be tough for anyone who hasn't earned their spot yet. It gets really interesting at this time of year and the pressure is surely turned up a few notches. Final standings and head to head wins will come in handy as some bids will be reallocated to the Regions and handed out after the Regional tournament is over. Every win will mean that much more to those teams who have not qualified yet in order to have a legit chance to win a reallocated bid from USAV.

[program_tooltip program_id='475085' first='1United' last=''] 17 National Blue

There are some awesome squads who can definitely put their name in the running for a shot to earn a bid. Let's take a look at a few of these amazing teams.

OMNI 17 National is one team that I had the privilege of seeing in person at the Red Rock Rave NQ and they were super impressive. They are led by one of the best setters in the State of California in [player_tooltip player_id='501118' first='Adriana' last='Dorn']. She is silky smooth as she moves around the court and one of the best leaders I have seen in quite a while. There is no doubt that she will be ready for the elite competition. With teammates like [player_tooltip player_id='560340' first='Brynn' last='Bohn'], [player_tooltip player_id='544294' first='Audrey' last='Berg'], [player_tooltip player_id='580850' first='Maryn' last='Hall'], [player_tooltip player_id='706297' first='Emma' last='Lucchesi'] and Avery Masters (just to name a few) at her side, they will be ready for battle. This team plays very fast and furious at the net and has the offense to compete with this field. I think they are poised to make a solid run.

OT 17 Felix is coming off of a solid ninth place finish at the Show Me National Qualifier. They will be looking to ride that wave in Dallas against some stiff competition. With one of the best middles in the state of Florida on their roster, they will be in great hands. She is quick off of the ground and has tons of power in her upper body. The way that she cuts the ball around the block will be key for this team to score efficiently. Talented left side attacker Sophia Stallworth can fly with the best of them and scores at a very high clip. She will be looked at to lead the team's offense for the weekend. She will have tons of help with the ball control of Avery Stephens in the back row. We will keep an eye on this squad to see if they can put it all together for a run at a bid.

STVA 17 Mizuno has the talent to run with anyone if they get hot at the right time. Their two outsides [player_tooltip player_id='318145' first='Jaylyn' last='Tuiasosopo'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318131' first='Paisley' last='Pavliska'] are high flyers and can score in a variety of ways. If setters [player_tooltip player_id='318204' first='Alexis' last='Dahl'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318196' first='Danielle' last='McAllister'] can move the ball around effectively to keep them fresh, the sky is the limit. The back row duo of [player_tooltip player_id='515938' first='Karis' last='Carpenter'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318146' first='Shayne' last='Zammiello'] are solid and will keep the offense running smooth. Middle [player_tooltip player_id='447026' first='Kaylie' last='Bourn'] is truly coming into her own this year and playing well at the net on the defensive end. Middle [player_tooltip player_id='318193' first='Jillian' last='Hanson'] is another top prospect who will provide a lot of heat for this team on the offensive end. We will have our scouts watching them in person and reporting on how they fare. Stay tuned for more from this talented squad.
