South Central NE has done it again.

Perhaps you'll recall our most recent addition to the Nebraska Bid Tracker. South Central NE 17 Black repeated history during the Show Me Qualifier's first weekend and secured a well-earned 17 Liberty bid. However, we have another South Central NE club with a wealth of postseason experience--and we'll see them at GJNC, too.

South Central NE 15 Black turned heads at the 14s level last year, culminating in a deep run through GJNC's 14 American field. The team aimed higher in 2025 and hoped to secure a 15 Liberty berth during the second iteration of Kansas City's Show Me Qualifier. Mission accomplished.

Small-town Nebraska is bringing another roster full of gems to club volleyball's biggest stage. It's also a chance to revisit several names that appeared at Prep Dig Circuit events last year.

We couldn't be more excited.

Tiebreakers and Heart-Stoppers

South Central NE 15 Black's journey to the 15 Liberty championship match had two phases: the dominant start and the nerve-wracking conclusion.

As we covered in our Easter Sunday preview, 15 Black looked untouchable through the first five matches of pool play. Friday's competition featured zero set losses, giving South Central NE a cascade of momentum heading into Round 2. The next tone-setter was a Great Plains triumph over Premier Nebraska 15 Red, followed by a dominant sweep over Madtown to post a 2-0 start to the second round.

This put 15 Black on a collision course with the final bracket, but Saturday still had a dose of evening drama on tap. South Central NE suffered its first defeat of the weekend in a 2-0 setback against Tulsa Power. The result placed South Central NE, Premier Nebraska, and Tulsa Power in a three-way tie for first place in the pool. All three teams finished with the same set count, so we had to go further on the tiebreaker flowchart.

Fortunately, South Central NE led the pack in point percentage to secure the pool win. 15 Black avoided a 15-point tiebreaker to reach Gold, but that saved all the nail-biting moments for Championship Sunday.

The team's bracket opener came against Pohaku 15-1, a team hoping to defend home territory in Kansas City. South Central NE faced one of its biggest tests of the weekend as the two competitors exchanged 26-24 set victories. This deuce-set marathon preceded a back-and-forth third set, and 15 Black's final push helped lock up a 15-12 win. On to the next one.

South Central NE passed its first three-set test of the event, but the gauntlet was just beginning. NM Elite15 National was next on the docket, and the winner of this semifinal would clinch a Liberty bid and a berth in the championship match. 15 Black faced an early deficit after falling in yet another 26-24 set.

Cue the comeback. South Central NE took over in Set 2, giving us a race to 15 for a bid. Fittingly, a two-point margin got it done. The small-town crew put another bid on the board with a 15-13 triumph in the tiebreaker.

Just like its 17 Black counterparts, South Central NE 15 Black left its mark in Kansas City with a runner-up finish. Another postseason breakthrough could be brewing this summer.

Big Stars of the Small-Town Scene

Meet some of Nebraska's future stars of the small-town prep scene.

Klockman

We were fortunate enough to see many of South Central NE's emerging athletes at last year's Prep Dig Showcase events. This list includes [player_tooltip player_id='572605' first='Aly' last='Cederburg'], the hard-hitting Minden middle blocker who had become a centerpiece of 15 Black's success. Cederburg is a natural blocker who uses her physicality to overpower opposing attackers. She's an offensive weapon, too, giving South Central NE an all-around force along the net. We saw all these traits flourish on the Prep Dig Circuit, and it has quickly translated to 15s competition.

Add dynamic hitters like [player_tooltip player_id='570568' first='Kaitlyn' last='Staehr'] and [player_tooltip player_id='570903' first='Kamryn' last='Klockman'] to the list of past showcase standouts finding success with South Central NE. This duo captured our attention after demonstrating a balanced skillset at last year's showcases. Staehr can go pass-to-attack in first-ball situations, and Klockman has demonstrated the ability to terminate on either pin.

What about the ball control positions? We have familiar names here, too. [player_tooltip player_id='573571' first='Adalyn' last='Cisneros'] is an intense backcourt competitor who is equally proficient in defense and serve receive. 15 Black uses many of its pin attackers in the passing pattern, so Cisneros is a vital asset to relieve some of that pressure.

Let's add one more familiar name at the setter spot. [player_tooltip player_id='572563' first='Hailey' last='Hoff'] is a steady leader at this position and can adapt to whatever system 15 Black deploys. The Aurora High School freshman can also take some swings as a frontcourt opposite if needed. Hoff works well in tandem with Oakley Todd, a GICC standout who consistently puts her hitters in positions to succeed.

Of course, this 15s season has also come with discoveries. [player_tooltip player_id='774620' first='Bella' last='Heins'] has been a revolutionary addition to the 15 Black lineup. The David City native already has varsity starting experience at the setter spot, but she's also a proficient defender in the back row. Heins gives South Central NE a true "wildcard" player who can impact any ball-control phase.

We're also watching big contributors emerge at the middle blocker spot. 15 Black has a true triple threat with Cederburg, [player_tooltip player_id='774618' first='Ashlyn' last='Barber'], and [player_tooltip player_id='774622' first='Gracie' last='Johnson'] along the net. This stacked, physical lineup emulates what has made other South Central NE teams so successful. Barber and Johnson can also flex into the right-side hitter spot and influence proceedings there. Versatility is a key asset that could carry South Central NE to another postseason run, and it all goes down in Dallas.
