Film Room: Scouting Names to Know in 2027

We've started to dig in, so to speak, here at Prep Dig Iowa writing new student-athlete evaluations. Please check out the site for completed scouting reports and check back as we plow forward.   Here are a half dozen fresh evals for players in the 2027 Class:    Risk was a role player when I saw her operating for a deep and talented Ankeny outfit last season. Expect her to have a bigger part for the 2025 Hawks if her club season is any indication. Risk has been a key cog for a PowerPlex squad that will give teams at the nationals in Dallas all they can handle. RIsk fits well into this team as a force at the net. I've seen her attack effectively from different positions and also make life difficult for others with her blocking. Risk is an explosive athlete with power in her swing. If you're looking for a breakout pick for the 2025 prep season, she'd make an excellent choice.     Miller ranks among the most improved players in the state during the last year. While she's long been effective on the court, she's become a difference maker. Miller fits best as a well-rounded setter that consistently puts the ball where her attackers can do work. With a high volleyball IQ, she sees the court well and sets where she locates an advantage. Miller has improved the most with her swing and defense during the last 12 months. She's become a dangerous attacker, she can block and come up with digs in the back row. Miller operates with good energy and leadership qualities.     The arrows are pointing up for Snyder in terms of her college stock. She's on an excellent trajectory that's seen her steadily improve but with plenty of room to go before she hits her ceiling. Snyder is versatile. While she stands out most on the outside with her leaping ability and whip-like swing, she showed this club season that her back-row game is getting better. It's a good bet that Snyder reaches her potential with her love for the game and dedication to taking it to the next level.     Waiting her turn while developing in one of the state's top prep programs, Edgington looks this club season like someone itching for a bigger role in 2025. She took on a key part for PowerPlex this season, impacting matches from the opposite pin. Edgington also showed she can handle herself in the middle of the net. She's a sound defender at both positions. Edgington's attack is more consistent from the right side, where she reads defenses well and directs her attack where she finds an advantage.     I watched Fengler throughout the club campaign. Her contributions for a strong Impact outfit proved important. In the matches I saw, her versatility stood out. Fengler looked comfortable swinging from both pins. Her willingness to block and her feel for doing so could foreshadow prime production there with continued dedication to honing the craft. Fengler also has made strides in serve-receive and defending the back row. It will be interesting to see where her game goes from here because there's a lot of promise.     The success Dagel experienced as a sophomore on the Cadet varsity last season has translated well to the club campaign. She led IFA with 212 kills and 63.0 blocks in 2024. Dagel's 148 digs also ranked among the team leaders. While not the tallest middle hitter, Dagel is athletic and agile with leaping ability. She displays a good feel for the position with her timing and knack for reading defenses. Dagel took a big step forward during club and should impact matches throughout the next two years of high school.
