Lexington United Wildcat AAU Day two Sound Hitters

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Union UA Black teams wound up taking the top three divisions in this tournament on Sunday.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 17 Black team finished a perfect 7-0 in the tournament, handling the MAVA 17 Select team, 2-0 (25-13, 25-5) to win the 17/18 Girls Division. [player_tooltip player_id='253864' first='Campbell' last='Miles'], [player_tooltip player_id='212397' first='Iris' last='Williams'] and [player_tooltip player_id='253869' first='Hilary' last='Pehlke'] started things up on defense with setter Maddie Carnes setting up the powerful hitters. [player_tooltip player_id='212386' first='Reagan' last='Baxter'], Kaylee Lawrence, Ellie Scharlow, [player_tooltip player_id='706522' first='Vita' last='Sensenbrenner'] and [player_tooltip player_id='750417' first='Rylee' last='Shupert'] all took big swings. Sophie Wischmeier and Scharlow also contributed on defense.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The MAVA Adidas Select 17 team still put together a nice 6-1 tournament to take the runner-up honors in that division. The likes of Taylor Wathen, [player_tooltip player_id='629192' first='Marleigh' last='Tripp'], [player_tooltip player_id='443382' first='Ava' last='Liening'] and [player_tooltip player_id='751663' first='Jordan' last='Jones'] tried to deliver with [player_tooltip player_id='212348' first='Ella' last='Grivna'] currently injured. Norah Campbell served as the libero with Anna Fish and Addison Vaughn setting things up. She takes strong shots to the short corners. Sharpe also had a number of solid blocks throughout the weekend. Sharpe said that has been a focus during the club season because when the 16 Elite's outsides are hot, the team can really feed them. She makes sound first passes and gives the team a nice option on the outside. Tripp is also very enthusiastic on the court. She hits balls hard to the lines and is a sound blocker. Her enthusiasm is contagious on the court. She possesses a sharp line drive serve. She said the team tries to use it to the advantage when they are out of system as the result of well-placed serves. Stewart takes hard swings and locates well, knowing when to take power off balls. Stewart tries to push strong balls to the right line from the strong left side. She takes great approaches to the net and has a nice touch putting balls off blockers. She kneels down to gain control of balls when necessary. Stewart needs work on her back row hits, but has tremendous potential.
