so much that it opens things up for other hitters like Sharpe. She takes advantage of her opportunities, taking back sets and pounding them to the back row with a smooth approach and finish. Sharpe has improved her arm swing. Sharpe said Barntsen and Green do a great job displacing blocks so she can drop balls into holes. She credited those two for making her and the other hitters’ jobs easier.

Sharpe is a crafty hitter for 17 Select. Sharpe pounds balls at angles that not many can. Sharpe takes back sets and pounds them to the opposite four zone for nice crosses. Sharpe angles her body one way, then adjusts at the last second to send balls another direction. Sharpe even whizzes balls over blocks hard to the back row. Sharpe is also not afraid to step inside blocks to take solid swings. Sharpe mixes in tips to throw off defenders. Sharpe had 94 kills and 35 assisted blocks in the fall, helping Mercy go 28-11 and make it back to the state tournament.

Sharpe has been moved around a good bit for both her high school and club teams, making her more versatile on the court. Sharpe gave the Jaguars sound swings mainly from the opposite side. Sharpe pounds balls hard to the lines and back row then can catch opponents drifting with tips to the middle over blockers. Sharpe has a nice vertical jump allowing her to form sound double blocks.

Sharpe tested at 49 miles per hour and averaged 45 in a swing speed test by the MAVA coaching staff. She has a great approach to the net then sends balls to the ground with a thud. Sharpe will command a good bit of attention for the Jaguars this fall. Sharpe could be a reason why Mercy sees few double blocks this year.

Sharpe moved into the top 15 in the class because she has been giving the 16 Select team another great option to take focus away from Yates. Sharpe tested at 49 miles per hour and averaged 45 in her club team’s recent swing speed test. She lines up her core, then follows through on hits and blocks. Sharpe should draw a lot of one-on-one matchups for Mercy this fall with the talent returning.

Sharpe (pictured) has great form on her approaches to the net. She takes strong shots to the short corners. Sharpe also had a number of solid blocks throughout the weekend. Sharpe said that has been a focus during the club season because when the 16 Elite’s outsides are hot, the team can really feed them. Sharpe said she tries to line up her core and focus on following through on her blocks.
