Powerhouse Sophomores Set Sights on UA Next Camp

Rancho Santa Margarita, California, will be the proving ground for a fierce group of sophomores ready to dominate the net at the UA Next Volleyball Camp. These athletes are nearing a pivotal point in the recruiting process, which is the moment when college coaches can officially reach out. With June 15, less than one month away, earning a spot at this camp is more than an honor. It is a well-timed resume booster and a prime opportunity to leave a lasting impression.   I connected with seven of these powerhouses to hear their thoughts heading into camp. They shared what they're most excited to showcase, what this invitation means to them, and who they'd bring along if given the chance. Each one also created a personal tagline to match the energy of personality.   Let's meet the sophomores who are ready to rise and shine on the big stage.      [player_tooltip player_id='536929' first='Abbie' last='Hairrell'], a middle blocker from SCVC 16 Roxy, is eager to showcase her offensive game at the UA Next Volleyball Camp. She has been focused this season on running more effective routes and elevating her offensive presence at the net. Abbie is also excited to work with new setters and demonstrate her coachability in a competitive, fast-paced environment.   Being invited to this camp is a meaningful milestone for Abbie. It represents the hours she has poured into training, both physically and mentally, and gives her a chance to measure her progress while learning from others. She is looking forward to competing with top-tier talent, gaining new skills, and continuing to grow as a player.   She is especially thrilled that her best friend, [player_tooltip player_id='545293' first='Liliana' last='Swanson'], will be attending the camp alongside her. The two are a package deal and have shared countless moments of learning, growing, and winning together. Whether adjusting to new teammates or rising to the level of elite competition, Asia embraces the challenges that come with high-level play and looks forward to proving her readiness on the court.   Being invited to this camp holds special meaning for Asia. She has attended UA Next Camps in the past and treasures the memories she has made there. From connecting with some of the top coaches and athletes to competing at a high level, the experience has shaped her growth and fueled her love for the game. Returning to this environment, she is excited to keep building on those moments and take the next step in her development. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">"You could have all the talent in the world, but without hard work, it means nothing."</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='455792' first='Emma' last='Kingston'], a middle blocker from WAVE Volleyball, is heading to the UA Next Volleyball Camp excited to have fun and show just how much progress she has made throughout the season. She's looking forward to stepping into a competitive environment where she can demonstrate the growth she has achieved in her skills, confidence, and presence on the court.   This opportunity means a great deal to Emma. It is a reflection of the hard work she has put in not just as a player, but also as a person and teammate. Every practice, lift, and moment of focus has helped her reach this point, and she's proud to represent that journey on a stage like UA Next. Emma values their connection on the court and how naturally their games complement each other. More than that, she admires Kale'a as a person and feels that their shared mindset and energy make them a strong duo, both in competition and in friendship. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">"All heart, all hustle"</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='482046' first='Tristyn' last='Bailey'], an outside hitter from Mizuno Long Beach, is most excited to showcase the full range of her game at the UA Next Volleyball Camp. She takes pride in her hitting, blocking, and especially her defensive play, and looks forward to combining her physical skill set with strong leadership and a positive presence on the court. For Tristyn, this is also a chance to reflect the mental toughness she has developed and the time she has spent working to perfect her game.   Being invited to this camp is more than just an opportunity, it is a moment to grow. Tristyn is excited to play with other high-level athletes, challenge herself with new teammates, and continue developing her ability to form quick connections. She looks forward to competing alongside players from across the country and learning through every rep.   If she could bring one person with her, it would be her cousin Milan Lee. Milan is entering her final year of high school, and with limited time left to attend camps together, Tristyn would love to share this experience with her. Though distance makes it hard to see each other often, a day spent playing together would mean a lot. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">"Consistent effort, visible results"</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='776337' first='Katelyn' last='Oerlemans'], a middle blocker from Sunshine 16 Pacific, is looking forward to sharpening her skills at the UA Next Volleyball Camp. She is especially excited to test her blocking against some of the best hitters in the country and hopes to showcase her offensive ability against high-level defensive players. For Katelyn, the camp is a prime opportunity to grow her all-around game while competing against elite talent.   Being invited to this event means a great deal to her. Katelyn feels honored to be recognized as a standout in such a competitive class of athletes. The acknowledgment brings confidence and reassurance that her hard work is paying off, but most of all, she is grateful. The opportunity to train with excellent coaches, play with top players, and simply enjoy the game she loves is something she does not take for granted.   If she could bring one teammate, it would be [player_tooltip player_id='513082' first='Brooke' last='Charlotte Salo'], an outside hitter from her team who has endured two ACL injuries over the past two years. Despite the setbacks, Brooke has remained determined and committed to returning to the court. Her resilience and love for volleyball are a daily inspiration for Katelyn, who knows how fortunate she is to play the sport each day. In her eyes, Brooke's dedication makes her more than deserving of an opportunity like this. ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     <h3 class="wp-block-heading text-gray-700">"Heart over height. Passion over pressure."</h3>   [player_tooltip player_id='529412' first='Opal' last='Warner'], a pin hitter from Actyve 16-Navy, is excited for the chance to compete with some of the best players in her area at the UA Next Volleyball Camp. She is not only looking forward to the competition, but also to the opportunity to learn from other high-level athletes. For Opal, this camp is about growth - both in how she performs and how she adapts alongside other talented players.   Being invited to this event is a meaningful moment in her journey. Opal sees it as a powerful chance to prove what she is capable of and to continue evolving as a player. She knows that opportunities like this are rare, and she's ready to make the most of it through hard work, focus, and a willingness to learn.   Several of her teammates have already been invited to the camp, which makes the experience even more exciting. Opal appreciates the high energy and competitive fire Dani brings to every match and believes she would thrive in a setting like UA Next. For Darby, being invited to this camp is a huge opportunity and something she has worked hard to earn. The hours she has committed both on and off the court have led to this moment, and she is excited to gain exposure, compete with elite athletes, and keep growing in the sport she loves.   If she could bring one teammate with her, it would be her best friend Ash Nwuli. Darby believes their energy together is unmatched and knows that sharing an experience like this with Ash would make it even more memorable.
