2027s are currently a valuable commodity, so let's give them a piece of the spotlight.

Yesterday, we highlighted a group of 2026s with big gain potential heading into Wave 3 of AAU Nationals. Of course, we also have several 16U divisions joining the 17s in Orlando for this action-packed wave. So, 2027s are a prominent pack here, too.

Let's give you some under-the-radar picks among Nebraska's rising juniors.

Club Legacy's 16s teams have given us plenty of new 2027s for our recruiting radar. Hochstein is a multi-sport star who can influence volleyball matches in various ways. She's a strong pin hitter who uses a quick, snappy approach to sky over opposing blockers. This year, Hochstein has also improved as an all-around asset, helping 16 Bravo make multiple deep tournament runs. We could see another one in Orlando.

Let's stay on the Club Legacy bandwagon and revisit 16 Alpha. This squad has established multiple scoring weapons at the middle blocker spot, and Morris's emergence has made 16 Alpha even more dangerous this year. She wields her exceptional length at the net and can also operate on the right side if needed. 16 Alpha has several possible lineups to deploy to replicate this year's incredible tournament success.

Patton is one of the most fascinating attackers in the Nebraska Elite gym. She plays a hybrid outside-middle role for 16 Surge and can score from anywhere along the net. This dynamic athlete can hit quick tempos to the middle but does most of her damage while running routes away from the setter. 16 Surge's diverse combination plays have given opposing teams fits this year, and we're likely to see a few more wrinkles for Patton at AAUs.

Krajicek is a perfect replica of the "[program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] mold" at the left-side hitter position. She plays a complete game for 16 Red, which usually includes trips across the back row to accompany her frontcourt work. Krajicek hits a heavy ball and remains an attacking threat from the middle-back area. 16 Red adjusts its serve-receive pattern to give Krajicek first touches along the end line, giving us a look at her growing six-rotation presence.

How about another versatile [program_tooltip program_id='428728' first='River' last='City Jrs'] athlete for your consideration? Brewer competes with 16 Navy and can slot into various spots in the lineup. She plays outstanding Zone 6 defense whenever she rotates in as a DS. However, Brewer will also play around the dial and wield her all-around prowess along the net. We've documented River City's past AAU success in the 16U age group, so expectations are high for the next wave of stars.

Wiedel has gained momentum from Thayer Central's runner-up finish in last fall's Class C2 championships. This small-town star racked up over three digs per set to go along with seven assists per set for the Titans. Her multi-dimensional skill set has fit right in with Nebraska Juniors 16 Black, where Wiedel transforms matches through her setting and defense. A high-profile journey awaits in the 16 Premier division.

Kassebaum racks up her share of touches for Nebraska Juniors 16 Red. The Waverly junior is a steady passer in the serve receive pattern, allowing 16 Red to run its pin-to-pin offense. Of course, Kassebaum is also bound to capitalize if she gets chosen to attack on the left side. She has made big strides in her transition game and

Nebraska Elite 16 Apex has almost always favored a two-setter system, and Barcel is an indispensable part of that starting rotation. She excels at distributing in three-hitter rotations and manages to find her middles after marginal passes. Barcel also has an excellent feel for the tempo needed to help her hitters succeed, particularly in the ever-quickening pace of Open-level competition. Barcel is ready for the AAU stage.
