We are not even 48 hours into the live recruiting period for 2027s and there are already commits we need to be talking about. The gates opened at 12:00 AM on June 15 and the first commit of 2027 was Sophia Dostic of OTVA posted on her Instagram that she was committed to LSU at 12:09 AM ET. From there we have had a flurry of more commits. Here is where they stand.

Michigan State Capitalizes on Minnesota

Head Coach at Michigan State, Kristen Kelsay was the previous Assistant Coach at Minnesota, developing close relationships with plenty of Minnesota athletes rising through the club ranks and through their camps. Kelsay is back at her alma matter and kept those connections by getting two Minnesota athletes in [player_tooltip player_id='453086' first='Ellery' last='DeBoer'] and [player_tooltip player_id='177440' first='Cora' last='Bicknese'].

These athletes are a great get for the green and white. DeBoer is a dynamic setter who has been playing up on the MN Select 17-1 squad the past two years. She is a true QB1 who brings a high IQ to the table. This is the type of player Coach Kelsay can build a high powered offense around. [player_tooltip player_id='177440' first='Cora' last='Bicknese'] is a small town kid from Chatfield, Minnesota. She is another who has been playing up an age group where she has been playing for [program_tooltip program_id='428866' first='Vital' last='Volleyball'] Club out of Eden Prairie, MN. She has a physicality and athleticism that is different among other liberos. She knows how to play at a high level. What a splash for MSU.

Another Minnesota athlete made a verbal commitment in [player_tooltip player_id='453085' first='Kaelyn' last='Bjorklund']. Bjorklund is a 6'1 setter/right side who plays for Northern Lights 16-1. She will head to Clemson, who has been capitalizing on recruits out of the Midwest. Bjorklund is highly effective with her physicality as a setter where she can set, swing, and has a really solid block. She will be at AAUs coming up where Northern Lights will be a tough matchup in 16 Open.

8 Star Camp Converts To Two Big Commits For Penn State

[player_tooltip player_id='296486' first='Taylor' last='Harrington'] and Nejari Crooks have made their verbal commitment to Penn State. They have had a busy couple weeks training with the Youth National Team and heading to the 8 Star Camp at Penn State (One star for each national title at Penn State).

[player_tooltip player_id='296486' first='Taylor' last='Harrington'] is a really dynamic middle blocker who plays club for [program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last=''] out of [program_tooltip program_id='432167' first='[program_tooltip program_id='432085' first='[program_tooltip program_id='430533' first='Virginia' last='']' last='']' last='']. At 6'3, she has the length, athleticism, and physicality to do some special things at the net as well as a high ceiling to become an elite player at the next level. Nejari Crooks is a 6'1 lefty combo player that can set, swing, do it all. There are flashes of her game that remind me of current Penn State setter Izzy Starck with her physicality at the net. These two are in the top twenty of the new Prep Dig Class of 2027 National Rankings and will be on the U19 Pan American Games team.

Creighton Gets Big Commit From TAV

[player_tooltip player_id='694108' first='Allie' last='Hudgins'] who is ranked 29th in our Prep Dig National Rankings will be heading North to Creighton. At 6'4, Hudgins brings a heavy arm and plenty of physicality from the pin. She has been on the radar for plenty of college coaches the past couple years and whenever you weather TAV on the jersey it will gain some big attention. This will be the first recruiting class for new head coach Brian Rosen at Creighton. Coach Rosen knows what it takes to get top players to Creight where he was their associate head coach and recruiting coordinator prior to taking the head spot. There will be more to come from the [program_tooltip program_id='430414' first='Jays' last=''] this summer!
