We're moving right along with our positional breakdowns. Today's edition talks about the unsung heroines of the front line, the middles. Each of these five middles bring something special to the table, and all five have that special something that will allow them to be some of the first to receive commitments from their favorite schools starting in June of 2026. Here are the five in question, from five different clubs around the state.

Exploding on to the scene ever since she moved here from Tennessee last year, Jordyn's size alone can be intimidating. Her hard work in transition is only exceeded by her heavy arm swing, and she punishes smaller and less disciplined blockers regularly. Even when the set isn't perfect, her size and jumping ability allow her to hang out for a while and turn imperfect into a kill. Her transfer over from Munciana last spring will immediately make Circle's 16-1 a better program just by her presence. Most of that team finished 3rd in 15 open this past summer. In other words—-watch out.

Already owning a large state championship trophy on her personal mantle, Paityn is a terminal middle that can put away balls from just about anywhere. She's an M1 with an M2's mentality—-meaning she can explode as an attacker in front of or behind the setter while being a solid defender of the net because of her broad shoulders and strong upper body. I've liked this kid since she came to our Freshman Showcase back in 2024, and she's only getting better.

More of a hybrid middle that plays a bunch of right side, Annabelle is an explosive attacker that plays bigger than her frame. Already averaging over three kills per set for Evansville North, she's really refined her all-around game by spending last spring on KiVA's 15 Red squad. Lengthy and springy, Miss Freels can play middle for a small college or right side for a midsized school looking for a multi-positional stud.

One of the more physical players in this class, Abbie hits an extremely heavy ball, and showed off her hard-hitting tendencies against older competition at our Stock Up Showcase a few weeks ago. Fully capable of being the M1 or the M2 on any roster, her full-go, hard-hitting, quick transitioning play style has led to more opportunities to take over matches this past year. With length longer than her six foot frame might assume, she's also adept on the block. Abbie will be an absolute steal for someone looking for that work ethic middle that can take over a match if you let her. And, being tucked away at Southern Wells, most won't even see her coming.

Another southern Indiana kid, Isabella was seen putting balls away for Providence last fall by yours truly. Yes, her size immediately makes her easy to recognize, as athletes over six foot are NOT in abundance on women's volleyball at Providence. That being said, Miss Manos looks smooth, hits high and hard, and is an exceptional M2 in the making for the next level. No, you can't teach 6'2”, but when that 6'2” moves and scores as well as Isabella does, it's hard not to root for her.
