Winding down the positional breakdowns of the class of ‘28, we finally get to the kids that make their teams that much better because of their athleticism, leadership (vocally or by example), and overall decision making when running their respective offenses. Here are five setters from five different clubs from around the state that should be the first setters off of the board next June.

Long, lean and carrying a bunch of confidence with her, Maggie is a next-level setter, and easily the best example of a Power Four setter from Indiana. Her size alone allows her to get to tight passes and convert them into hittable balls, while her hands are fluid and high, looking almost textbook in technique. Quiet and unassuming, she's a leader by example, and has bailed her squads out (without accolades) on multiple occasions over the last year due to their iffy passing. Already among the high school elite here in Indiana, it's only a matter of time before she can count herself among the collegiate elite.

Nicole, the daughter of a coach, is in the process of perfecting every skill on the volleyball court. Although her primary skill is setting, I have personally seen her take on other positional areas in our Showcase just to fill holes we were missing in a drill. Hard-working with a motor that never quits, Nicole's ability to run an offense in the back row and transition like a full-time attacker in the front row proves my point. She does a little of everything, and in a good way, is the gym rat every program needs to be successful.

With All-Tournament status conferred to her this past summer at AAUs, Paislee is a quick and athletic setter that defends her position better than most setters in this (or any) class in Indiana. Instinctual and fast, Miss Terry is already running a faster-than-average offense at Munciana, and is rounding into form as one of the top setters in this class in the state. Always in the right spot and always making the correct decision, she does those things seemingly quicker than everyone else—-as if her training is now second nature. Like Nicole listed above, she does everything well, and should be a nice addition for any college that wants her in the fall of ‘28.

Light on her feet and quick with her deceptive hands, Caitlyn has spent a good part of her high school career hitting on the right side and setting. Her future is truly as a setter, but recruiters should know that she's more than capable of both. As that coveted 5-1 setter, Caitlyn's hands are highly deceptive and quick, forcing blockers to guess and leave holes for her attackers to crush balls into. Her size also allows her to take charge of scoring points whenever she chooses, keeping opposing defenses honest in the process. Her club season this past spring was a coming-out party for her and her skills, and she's only getting better from here.

Charlee is a “coach's setter”, if there was such a thing. She leads by example, chooses the right hitter in the right situation consistently, and is highly coachable so that she can make adjustments mid-match. She's also tough from behind the baseline, and can keep pressure on defenses and serve receive systems with every ball she plays. As the setter for Circle's bronze-winning 15-1 in Dallas in 15 Open this past summer, she'll continue on that high-end path this fall with a solid Plainfield program as well as next spring with Circle again.
