FREE REPORT: KVA Releases Pre-Season Rankings

In this article:
The Kansas Volleyball Association released its preseason team rankings for each of the seven Kansas classifications of schools.
The reigning state champion is the No. 1 school in each set of rankings except for Class 2A, where Ellinwood was selected the preseason No. 1 instead of defending champion Marantha Christian Academy.
This report features six Prep Dig-ranked players from KVA-ranked teams.
Each one was selected becuase they have claimed Prep Dig Profiles, and are athletes who have not been featured in a report this month.
I have made this report available for free, accessible to all readers.

The Blue Valley North Mustangs are ranked No. 4 in the Class 6A KVA rankings. Maslowski is an athlete who has not been featured since April. She is coming off a successful club season. As a sophomore, she recorded 148 kills and 32 blocks. She is ranked No. 13 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027 rankings. Mill Valley was selected as the preseason No. 1 team, and they are my pick to win the Class 6A state title in Salina.

Class 6A
- Mill Valley
- Blue Valley West
- Olathe West
- Blue Valley North
- Washburn Rural
- Gardner-Edgerton
- Manhattan

Bishop Carroll is ranked No. 7 overall in the Class 5A KVA rankings. Avey is ranked No. 75 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She played 33 sets at the varsity level, recording 77 assists, 23 kills, and 12 aces as a sophomore. The Golden Eagles lost two key seniors off last season's roster, and Avey has the versatility to be used at multiple positions. St. Thomas Aquinas earned the top spot in the KVA rankings and is the defending state champs. I am going out on a limb and predict that the preseason No. 5-ranked Kapaun Mt. Carmel Crusaders will win the 5A state title.

Eudora is the No. 7-ranked team in the KVA Class 4A rankings. Miller is ranked No. 14 overall by Prep Dig. She is coming off a solid freshman season in which she recorded a team-high 345 kills in 91 sets played. The KVA has the defending champion Bishop Miege Stags ranked No. 1. I am going to be a homer with this pick and predict that the Hayden Wildcats leave Hutchinson as the Class 4A state champs in 2025.

The Nemaha Central Thunder are ranked No. 2 overall in the KVA Class 3A rankings. The Thunder lost their top three attackers in terms of total kills from last year's squad. That opens the door for Henry to be one of the team's top attackers and primary hitting targets. She finished her junior season with 160 kills and 239 digs. Defending champion Halstead is the No. 1-ranked team in Class 3A. The Jefferson West Tigers are my pick to be the Class 3A state title winners.

Class 3A
- Halstead
- Nemaha Central
- Hoisington
- Beloit
- Neodesha
- Royal Valley
- Girard
- Silver Lake
- Frontenac

The KVA has Inman ranked No. 3 overall in Class 2A. Harris is verbally committed to playing for the Utah Utes after graduation. She is ranked No. 3 overall by Prep Dig Kansas in the Class of 2026 rankings. She is a hitting machine that I have scouted closely for several years. The Ellinwood Eagles are the No. 1-ranked team in Class 2A. This is class where I needed to flip a coin between two teams. My 1977 quarter came up heads, so that means Harris and her Teuton teammates leave Dodge City with state title hardware.
Highlights
Class 2A
- Ellinwood
- Valley Heights
- Inman
- Sedgwick
- Maranatha Christian
- Oakley
- Wichita-Central Christian Academy
- Hillsboro

She finished her freshman season with 219 kills and 376 digs as freshman for the Bluebirds. Defending state champion Little River is the top-ranked team in this division by the KVA. I am picking the Centralia Panthers to win the state title in this division.

- Centralia
- Clifton-Clyde

Morrison finished second in kills for the Argonia Raiders last season. She recorded 319 kills in 107 sets played. She also registered 389 digs last fall. She has a chance to reach the 1,000 career benchmark in both kills and digs during her senior campaign. She is ranked No. 62 overall in the Kansas Class of 2026 rankings. The KVA has Argonia ranked No. 6 overall in the Class 1A DII rankings and Hanover as the top-ranked team. I am picking Hanover to win the state tournament, which will be played in Emporia.
