For many outsides the jump is the key to their success. The higher they fly the stronger they hit. Others rely on height as well as arm extension. Below are ten outsides who leaped high in the 2027 rankings.

Avery seems to improve every time I get a glimpse to watch her play. She played well at the Mid Atlantic Power League (MAPL) as well as the Capitol Hill Classic in DC. Her team finished in third place at Capitol Hill while she was awarded with the best attacker award in the 16 Open Division. That earned her a bump up in the rankings from 55 to 30.

Now the high school season begins with Frank Cox standing out as one of the stronger teams in the Virginia Beach Region. As a sophomore Avery led the team in kills, was second in digs, third in blocks and third in aces. About the only skill she fell short at was set. At 6'0" she brings an approach jump of 9'5". As she gains more strength this number should improve. She also enhances her indoor game with a lot of beach play during the summer.

She did not get a lot playing time for Virginia Jrs with [player_tooltip player_id='357402' first='Coco' last='Lewis'] and [player_tooltip player_id='807869' first='Ayla' last='Sayd'] the two left side hitters. on the roster When she did come in it was usually on the right side. When she did play she powered the ball with very good velocity. This is her second rise in the rankings this current one moving her from 69 to 51.

She has some good height for an outside at 5'11", however her jump allows her to glide over the net. For Heritage this year she should stand out as one of their top offensive performers hitting from the left side. Lots of athletic potential in her game. Her back row play could use some improvement to increase her six rotation opportunities.

Violet played up a year competing with Virginia Juniors 17. She showed her versatility hitting both right side and left side allowing her.to move from 92 to 55 in the rankings. I first noticed her taking swings for Patriot. While she hit the ball very hard she struggled with consistency in finding the court. Her hitting percentage that season sat at .175.

Watch for some big improvement this year after her play at Virginia Juniors. Many of those spikes that sailed out last year should hit the floor in 2025. Last year she finished second on her team in kills. Expect to see a few more kills in her game this year with more six rotation play.

A third straight Virginia Juniors player to make our highest climbers group with Skyler moving from 79 to 58. Another player with great athleticism. At our Prep Dig showcase this year she was one of our stand out performers.

Skyler was another player who played a year up with the Virginia Juniors 17 team. She was one of their primary hitters on the left side while also appearing on the roster of the Virginia Juniors 18 team when they played in Junior Nationals.

With Chantilly this year Skyler will replace Lameen Mambu as the top offensive player. Similar to Violet she needs to gain more consistency in finding the court. Last year her hitting percentage was .146 while she finished third on the team in kills. After her improvement in club play expect a major transformation this high school season, especially with her consistency.

Marissa played right side for [program_tooltip program_id='511606' first='Vienna' last='Elite'] using her lefthanded swing to create offense. Because they played a 5/1 Marissa also played six rotations and stood out as a very effective attacker from the back row. Her improvement in play resulted in a climb from 73 to 61 in the rankings.

With [program_tooltip program_id='511606' first='Vienna' last='Elite'] she hit both right side and left side. This versatility will make her a force for Oakton in the Concorde Conference. She will again have Julia Xu setting for her at Oakton breeding familiarity with the setting.

Lacey earned a spot on the Prep Dig list as the most surprising club player for the 2025 season, providing [program_tooltip program_id='498081' first='Loudoun' last='Elite'] with enough offense to earn their first national bid in club history. This certainly deserves a jump from 119 to 78 in our 2027 rankings.

While at 5'8" she will always be considered undersized for an outside hitter she has a way for creating offense. Whether it is hitting from the front row or back row that ball seems to find the floor on the opponents side of the court with consistent regularity.

She will play for Potomac Falls this year. Last year they improved from 0-10 to 5-5 in the Potomac conference with Lacey generating the majority of the offense. Expect them to improve upon this record this coming season. Their biggest challenge this high school season is to surpass defensing Class 5 state champion Riverside and Independence. Last year they shocked Independence with a sweep.

Another [program_tooltip program_id='549544' first='Club' last='757'] climbing the rankings with Benisa rocketing up from 132 to 80 this coming season. She is another smaller outside that hits the ball hard with an approach jump of 9'7". At MAPL this year she hit the ball well but struggled with her passing in the back row. As a smaller player she will have to find greater consistency in that area.

For Grassfield last year she was their leader in kills. serving aces and digs. Ideally, improving on that .191 hitting percentage would enhance her offensive game. Her club play should help address that.

[player_tooltip player_id='828546' first='Alexa' last='Bracey'] RS (Bishop McNamara/[program_tooltip program_id='476729' first='Paramount' last='']) - I like her 6'0" height and her lefthanded swing for the right side. Paramount 16 carries a number of talented players who all compete for playing time. Alexa is one of those players. There still exists a trace of rawness in her game as her .054 hitting percentage for Bishop McNamara shows. She lists as middle for the Mustangs, which is a tough position to play for a left handed swing. Those quick tempo sets have a longer distance to travel before they reach her left handed swing. Her blocking seems to excel as evidence by her finishing second on the team in blocks. Alexa has committed to Delaware.

Addison went from watch list to 143 in our rankings. At 5'8 her height puts her in the undersized classification. For club she played for Metro East That is more a regional team for Metro, although they played in the Northeast Qualifier and AAUs.

Last year she dominated at the junior varsity level for St. Johns. After upping her game with Metro East it is time for her to make an impact with varsity for the 2025 season.
