Marissa played right side for Vienna Elite using her lefthanded swing to create offense. Because they played a 5/1 Marissa also played six rotations and stood out as a very effective attacker from the back row. Her improvement in play resulted in a climb from 73 to 61 in the rankings.

With Vienna Elite she hit both right side and left side. This versatility will make her a force for Oakton in the Concorde Conference. She will again have Julia Xu setting for her at Oakton breeding familiarity with the setting.

Marissa brings a 9’7″ approach jump to the floor.

Her left handed swing is ideal for the right side. The last time I watched her play she played a six rotation right side, banging a number of balls from the back row setter position. For this tournament injuries forced DMV Elite to move her to left side. Her offensive game did not slack off. She still played six rotations.

Last year was a down year for Oakton. With Marissa hitting the pins and Julie Xu Julie Xu 5'11" | S Oakton | 2026 State VA setting a 5/1 they could again be a compeitor in their district.

DMV Elite just missed out playing in the gold division at the National Harbor tournament. While they finished first in their pool they were tied with two other teams. The tie breaker dropped them down to the silver division.

Marissa performed well at the tournament. Her left handed swing is ideal for the right side. Because DMV Elite runs a 5/1 with her high school teammate Julie Xu Julie Xu 5'11" | S Oakton | 2026 State VA as the setter she also has the opportunity to play six rotations. This allowed her to be more involved in the offense attacking from beyond the three meter line. Her passing and defense are certainly playable in the back row. Don’t know how much back row play she gets at Oakton.
