A deep and talented roster was on display for the Jaguars, a legit title contender in Class 5A.   Here's a closer look at Centennial student-athletes that stood out during the action at Little Hawk Arena:    Through the first 13 matches of the 2025 season, Schmidt led the Jaguars in kills (96), and ranked second in assists (112) and blocks (22). She also had rated among the team leaders in digs with 75. The Southwest Minnesota State commitment can do it all, as the statistics would indicate. She's long been an effective setter with a great feel for the game. Schmidt delivers precise passes to all locations along the net. She's really raised her game in terms of hitting opposite pin, becoming more powerful and consistent. Defending at the net and in the back row also are where she makes key contributions. Schmidt's versatility render here a tough matchup and allows her teams plenty of flexibility. It will be fun to see how her skill set is utilized on the next level.     Cheeseman has steadily improved throughout her career as a prep and in club ball, where I've watched her stand out in both. She has excellent instincts on the court and marries them with a technically sound game at the setter spot. Through the first 13 matches of the 2025 campaign, Cheeseman paced the Jaguars with 180 assists, ranked second in digs with 103 and third in blocks (19.0). She brings coveted height to the position and a good deal of athleticism. Cheeseman gives her attackers consistent chances with her accurate offerings and does a nice job picking her spots to find holes in the defense. She'll be an asset to the Sioux Falls program when she joins it next year.     Lei-Butters has been getting it done on the prep and club circuits as one of the state's top liberos for years. It's puzzling that a college hasn't yet scooped her up based on what I saw again at the City High tournament early in the 2025 season. Lei-Butters is as steady as they come, limiting mistakes and consistently delivering clean passes to keep a dangerous Jaguar outfit in system. Lei-Butters moves well laterally, gets good reads on the ball and is sound in serve-receive. She also is sharp at setting the pins off of the two ball and does a nice job communicating with her teammates.     Pollock boasts a well-rounded game and a diverse set of skills that should have colleges considering the possibilities. She's very comfortable swinging away on the outside as evidenced by her ranking third among the Jaguars in kills through the 2025's first 13 matches. While not the prototypical height for a pin, she succeeds with explosiveness and leaping ability. Her quick-twitch athleticism also aids here when lining up in the back row. Pollock moves well laterally and flashes sharp reflexes.     Heither is a powerful two-way middle that will embarrass opponents not prepared to do battle. Playing with an intense tempo, the junior attacks the opposition with a heavy swing. She's been improving recognition of where the defense is setting up to better take advantage of it. Heither also is aggressive in throwing up the block. She anticipates the attack well and gets herself in position to make a play. Heither is technically sound on the block, making it more effective in ending points. Through the first 13 matches of 2025, she ranked second on the team in kills (63) and led the way with 37.0 blocks.     I hadn't seen a lot of Rinehart heading into an in-person scout at the Iowa City High tournament early in the 2025 season. I left the gym intrigued by her skill set. The sophomore ranked among the team leaders with 74 digs. Her quickness, lateral movement and sharp reflexes make her effective in serve-receive and in challenging the opposing attack. Beyond that, Rinehart displayed an aptitude for her own attack from the back row. She jumps well and generates power that should increase even more over time. Those traits also make her effective from the pin, too. Rinehart is one to watch this season and beyond.     Rogers is packed with potential, which she showed again during the Iowa City High tournament early in the 2025 season. She's a versatile front-row performer capable of contributing from either pin or in the middle. After the first 13 matches of the campaign, Rogers stood out among the Jaguar leaders in kills and blocks, taking advantage of her opportunities on a loaded roster. Rogers is long and athletic with power. She's made great strides in improving her overall game during the last year, and her considerable ceiling should have colleges keeping tabs on her for the rest of this campaign and beyond.     One of the most improved players in the state during the last year, Snyder is off to a fine start to her junior campaign. On a Centennial roster with a lot of pieces for the attack, Snyder fits on the outside capable of doing decent damage during her rotation. She's increased her strength, which has helped her power. With room to add more moving forward, Snyder's potential is considerable. She's also getting better at reading the defense and directing her attack accordingly. Snyder has long arms and good leaping ability, which will gives her a chance to be an more effective net defender, too.
