Sidney Rogers Sidney Rogers 6'2" | MB/RS Ankeny Centennial | 2027 State IA has been playing against tough competition all club season for PowerPlex 17 Brogean who has qualified for USAV 17 Open.  She brings length and athleticism to the middle blocker position.  She will take her talents to Winona State who is part of the Northern Sun Conference, one of the top conferences nationally for D2. She will look to get back to the state tournament for Ankeny Centennial who has had quite the run in making it to the state tournament in Coralville. 

Rogers is one of those kids that plays on teams with loaded rosters, leading to her being overlooked at times. I last wrote about here during the high school season, when she was an important contributor for an Ankeny Centennial outfit that finished second in Class 5A. The junior produced 81 kills and 37.0 blocks during 58 sets played (10 matches started). The Jaguars graduated a lot of talent from last year’s team, and Rogers is poised to step into a larger role in 2026. She’s preparing for that opportunity with one of the state’s top 17U teams this club campaign. Rogers is an important piece of the PowerPlex operation that finished second at the Iowa Regional earlier this month, earning an American Division bid to the USAV national tournament this summer on Indianapolis. We can witness her strengths when watching videos on her Sports Recruits page. She’s an athletic middle that moves well laterally and gets off of the court quickly. Rogers flashes sharp timing in throwing up the block and mounting an attack. She plays well off of her teammates, selling the fake when the set goes to a pin. Rogers is one of the state’s better uncommitted 2027s.

Rogers is packed with potential, which she showed again during the Iowa City High tournament early in the 2025 season. She’s a versatile front-row performer capable of contributing from either pin or in the middle. After the first 13 matches of the campaign, Rogers stood out among the Jaguar leaders in kills and blocks, taking advantage of her opportunities on a loaded roster. Rogers is long and athletic with power. She’s made great strides in improving her overall game during the last year, and her considerable ceiling should have colleges keeping tabs on her for the rest of this campaign and beyond.

Rogers’ skills are developing within two of the state’s top programs. She’s a big reason why her teams are enjoying success. She’s a versatile performer who does her best work in the middle. Rogers is agile and athletic with long arms. She produces pace with her swing and has a good feel for the block. Rogers athleticism allows her to succeed at the pins, too. I could see her developing into a standout at multiple positions. And that versatility is another reason why Rogers is a valuable member of whatever roster she’s on.
