Texas High School Report – 6A Playoff Teams to Watch Vol 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Texas High School volleyball season is finishing up district play and the field is setting for the UIL State Playoffs.&nbsp; Everyone is playing hard in order to chase the ultimate prize, a State Championship.&nbsp; We have some intriguing storylines stemming from a top-notch and action-packed regular season.&nbsp; Let's take a look at some teams who are ready to make a solid run and a few individual players who can help them compete.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Dawson Eagles have powered their way into the state rankings all year long with some great teamwork and solid offense.&nbsp; Their 37-4 overall record and undefeated district record are hard to ignore.&nbsp; The golden arm of senior outside [player_tooltip player_id='254073' first='Avery' last='Koonsen'] takes the spotlight for this squad.&nbsp; She has decided that her final year of high school will be special and she is all over the stat book.&nbsp; With a hitting efficiency of .322 on the pins and 276 digs in the back row, she can literally do it all on the court for the Eagles.&nbsp; Fellow seniors [player_tooltip player_id='839573' first='Sloane' last='Ranney'], [player_tooltip player_id='318191' first='Keaton' last='Points'], and [player_tooltip player_id='538584' first='Alana' last='Evans'] are lighting up the scoreboard also and giving this team some added firepower.&nbsp; Keaton has been doing this since she burst onto the scene during her sophomore year.&nbsp; The six-foot middle is solid at the net while blocking also.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='580021' first='Julia' last='Wright'], [player_tooltip player_id='828455' first='Destiny' last='Lyons'] and [player_tooltip player_id='318191' first='Keaton' last='Points'] make one formidable wall that is hard to penetrate for opposing attackers.&nbsp; If they do get by this great wall, the back row is patrolled by a great libero in [player_tooltip player_id='530380' first='Jenna' last='Thedford'].&nbsp; We have watched the talented senior develop into a tremendously talented back row ball control specialist.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='362961' first='Isabella' last='Tijerina'] also contributes mightily in both serve receive and on defense.&nbsp; The duo of senior Taylor Ranney and freshman Alexa Koonsen keep the offense flowing and ball moving to all of their talented hitters.&nbsp; Head Coach Lauren Leth has been here before and knows exactly what to do in tight matches.&nbsp; We will be watching closely to see if Dawson can finish the season strong like a lot of people think they can.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The South Lake Carroll Dragons are in one of the toughest districts in the state and although they finished second, they have one of the most explosive offenses in the state that can contend with anyone.&nbsp; It all starts on the pins with super stud [player_tooltip player_id='318202' first='Layla' last='Austin'].&nbsp; She can score from any location on the court at any time.&nbsp; If she gets hot, watch out because she can score in bunches and go on a run rapidly.&nbsp; Most teams have pin hitters who can beat you, but hardly any have a middle who can literally take over a match if she wants to.&nbsp; Arguably one of the most dangerous middles in the entire nation, [player_tooltip player_id='295124' first='Kinsley' last='Young'] is very physical and can run every route you want.&nbsp; The net is hers and she plays with tons of confidence.&nbsp; You can tell how lethal she is by looking at her .391 hitting percentage.&nbsp; This is someone who will not be stopped completely.&nbsp; One more senior on this roster can also beat you and her name is [player_tooltip player_id='804908' first='Teddy-Raye' last='Ewers']. &nbsp;She has a wicked fast arm swing that is very difficult to time.&nbsp; [player_tooltip player_id='433624' first='Audree' last='Hughes'] is another highly ranked pin who will come at you with power and finesse.&nbsp; I would not want to face this team in any round because they have so many attackers who can beat you.&nbsp; Sure-handed senior Emma Eyster and freshman phenom [player_tooltip player_id='743563' first='Mariel' last='Elizondo'] run a very solid six-two offense.&nbsp; The way they distribute the ball to all of these stars is magical.&nbsp; Libero Laren St. Charles is another senior who wants to go out on top.&nbsp; She is doing everything she can to keep the ball off of the floor and stay in system.&nbsp; Head Coach Leslie Jackson has been doing this for a long time at a very high level and will be sure to have a solid game-plan for the playoffs.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As always stay tuned for more articles on your favorite teams and athletes.&nbsp;
