Mira Costa Shows Heart in Season Finale Against Sierra Canyon

There are matches that define a record and there are matches that define a team. Last night's four-set battle against Sierra Canyon was the kind of volleyball that reveals character. Mira Costa walked into the gym knowing the challenge in front of them and walked out of it having proven something much bigger than a final score.   Head <a href="https://www.instagram.com/reel/DRATNThAXyx/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Coach Cam Green </a>captured the night perfectly. “Last night we played our final match of the season and fell to Sierra Canyon in four. It was a tough loss, but it was not without heart. It was not without grit. It was not without every ounce of effort these girls had left to give. We tried everything. We shifted lineups. We took chances. We pushed. We competed. And through all of it, I was incredibly proud of how our team showed up for one another. This season was about so much more than wins and losses. It was about how to show up when things get hard. How to stay steady when adversity hits. How to be a good teammate. How to become a better person because of what you go through, not just because of what you achieve. Losing is never easy. It never will be. But if we can walk away stronger, wiser, and more connected than we started, then I believe we are still winning. Proud of this group. Proud of this journey. Grateful for every moment we shared.”   Mira Costa executed a strong game plan, defended with relentless effort, and made intentional adjustments throughout the match. They ran a 6–2 to spark momentum, returned to a 5–1, made strategic substitutions, and leaned into the depth of their roster. She read the deep angle early, moved with purpose, and covered the entire backcourt with consistency. Her ability to chase balls down and extend rallies shifted momentum multiple times. Brynn handled some of the hardest swings in the gym and turned them into quality touches. Behind the service line she delivered a versatile jump serve that could drop short or drive deep into corners for clean aces.   ~ Michelle Bamford @Coachable247     [player_tooltip player_id='391092' first='Milly' last='McGee']   USC Commit   Milly ran her court with confidence and clarity. Her communication set the tone, and she ensured every teammate was aligned on offensive and defensive priorities. She mixed her set choices with maturity, balancing tempo, location, and hitter rhythm. Her serve produced a key ace and consistently placed Sierra Canyon out of system. She covered the court with discipline, keeping rallies alive with low, controlled touches. Offensively she delivered timely swings that gave Mira Costa critical points. She delayed her swing just enough to beat hands late and routinely tooled right side blockers with clean contact. Her jump serve had height and flow, creating natural difficulty for passers. She approached each swing with purpose, seeking the right angle and reading the block before committing. She favored the hard angle and inside seam and executed with control.
