Another prep season is in the books. It won't be long before the club campaign gets rolling in January.

Before we move on, let's look back on what was another entertaining school-ball year. The state tournament gave us lasting memories thanks to incredible performances by favorites and underdogs, alike.

We'll start at the top with our postseason honors. Here is the Prep Dig Iowa 2025 Elite All-State Team:

PLAYER OF THE YEAR

[player_tooltip player_id='389079' first='Bailey' last='Boeve'], SR, Six-Rotation OH, Hinton

As a fan of high school volleyball in the state, it was wonderful witnessing Boeve bounce back from surgery and flourish as a senior. The Creighton committment led the Blackhawks to the Class 2A state championship match by hitting an absurd .435 with 419 kills in 90 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='243182' first='Isabelle' last='Kremer'], SR, Six-Rotation, OH, Pleasant Valley

You could make a strong case for Kremer being the state's player of the year, and I probably wouldn't debate against it. The future Drake Bulldog certainly proved worthy after hitting .355 with 431 kills in 96 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='261094' first='Reese' last='Naeve'], SR, Six-Rotation, OH, Regina Catholic

Naeve led the Regals to back-to-back state tournament appearances after they had only been there three times before. The Iowa State pledge paced Iowa preps with 730 kills (.334) in 116 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='389066' first='Cambel' last='Drapeau'], SR, MH, Dubuque Senior

Just because the Rams failed in achieving a high level of success, it doesn't diminish Drapeau's ability to play this game. She'll join Boeve at Creighton after recording 437 kills (.394) in 91 sets this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='800048' first='Kenzie' last='Moeller'], SR, Six-Rotation OH, North Scott

Moeller willed the [program_tooltip program_id='431978' first='Lancers' last=''] to the Class 4A title with one of the most dominating state tournament performances this decade. For the season, the Southern Illinois commitment registered 429 kills (.328) 106 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='230661' first='Ellah' last='Derrer'], SR, MH, Assumption

There may not be a more intimidating player in the state than Derrer. She can overwhelm an opponent by slamming the ball down on them from above or by swatting away kills attempts coming at her. Those skills resulted in 363 kills (.455) and 101.0 blocks in 92 sets for the Kansas State pledge.

[player_tooltip player_id='490013' first='Logan' last='Vogt'], JR, Six-Rotation OH, Waukee Northwest

The most gifted player on the state's top team, Vogt impacts matches in a more subtle way than some of her peers because of the talent around her. But don't get it twisted, the Iowa State commitment can dominate when needed. She finished with 353 kills (.285) in 93 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='443092' first='Malia' last='Rogers'], JR, Six-Rotation OH, Waukee

The Purdue commitment's 299 kills (.231) in 88 sets might not measure up against other players on this list, but Rogers is asked to do a lot for her team. And it's guaranteed if coaches in the state were picking teams to compete against each other, this young lady would be one of the first players off the board.

[player_tooltip player_id='360642' first='Sophia' last='Austen'], JR, Six-Rotation OH, Iowa City West

Austen dealt with an ankle injury that cost her some matches and made her less than 100 percent in others. When healthy, the future Iowa State Cyclone is one of the most feared pins in the state, however. She produced 285 kills (.217) in 80 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='361168' first='Averie' last='Lower'], SR, Six-Rotation OH, Clear Creek Amana

Of the players on this squad, Lower was one of the better ones in the back row. The Arizona State basketball commitment also inflicted high-end damage at the pin with 344 kills (.285) in 109 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='389942' first='Katie' last='Scheckel'], SR, S/OH, Pella

Scheckel led the Dutch to state finals and semifinals during the last two seasons as its best hitter and setter. She ended 2025 with 407 kills (.282) and 313 assists in 105 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='389012' first='Channing' last='Johnson'], SR, S, Denver

The Class 2A state tournament's most outstanding player in leading the Cyclones to the last two titles dished out an Iowa leading 1,199 assists in 122 sets this season. She added 163 kills (.328).

[player_tooltip player_id='389019' first='Avery' last='Vogt'], SR, S, Waukee Northwest

The Drake commitment ran the show for the state's best squad in 2025. Vogt ended up with 939 assists and 93 kills (.343) in 93 sets on a team where the numbers are pretty well spread around.

[player_tooltip player_id='389006' first='Carsyn' last='Kelley'], SR, S, Assumption

Evansville is getting a good one in Kelley, who helped Pleasant Valley win the 2024 Class 5A title before being an integral part of Assumption's 3A championship this fall. She handed out 876 assists and added 91 kills (.394) in 92 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='389060' first='Tatem' last='Schmidt'], SR, S/OH, Centennial

Schmidt impacted matches in a big way for a Jaguar team that advanced to the 5A state championship match. The senior handed out 381 assists and pounded out 266 kills (.263) in 101 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='261075' first='Kaelyn' last='Wieland'], SR, S/OH, Valley

A fixture for the Tigers throughout here four years as a prep, Wieland led them to the semifinals of the state tournament with an upset of defending champion Pleasant Valley in the first round. She dished out 501 assists and totaled 244 kills (.219) in 105 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='316419' first='Edie' last='Miller'], JR, DS/L, Liberty

A wall in the back row, the Dayton commitment registered 480 digs in 93 sets during 2025 despite opposing attacks avoiding her at all costs.

[player_tooltip player_id='261088' first='Mya' last='Lei-Butters'], SR, DS/L, Centennial

Lei-Butters held down the Jaguar back row for four years, helping them reach the 5A championship match in 2025 with 431 digs in 106 sets.

[player_tooltip player_id='555820' first='London' last='Taylor'], JR, DS/L, Waukee Northwest

I get that the Wolves' roster is loaded with talent. I don't understand Taylor being overlooked so often because of it, however. She takes control in the back row, which included 353 digs in 93 sets this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='389010' first='Annistyn' last='Wedgbury'], SR, DS/L, Cedar Falls

The Tigers will miss Wedgbury's presence in the back row next season and beyond. She solidified the defense with 347 digs in 140 sets this year.
